Spread the ball on a slow play
Every time the go down the line, from the back half on a slow play.

Looking good. I like Hill playing forward. Lienert has been a smart pickup. We are looking for King too much but otherwise going well.
Hill, Long & Butlers forward pressure has been exceptional.

I don’t think Ryder did anything wrong - he just stood his ground - but I reckon he’ll still cop a suspension, because it will be interpreted to be an attack on the head.

I guess not tap it so hard so that he and the ball arrived at the boundary at the same time.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Hawks Round 4 2022
Anyway, Ryder’s woes are the only black mark on a marvellous first half. Two whipping boys of recent times, Hill and Butler, have been great. So had Ryder of course. And Membery and Crouch. I’ll give a pat on the back to Howard too: he’s been very solid.

We tried hard to give them a goal at the end. RoMa has had a bad day. For some reason he's not jumping into the ball. Long has been poor, another who needs to use his natural jump. His arms always seem attracted to the neck of opponents.

Clearly made contact to the point of his chin. But I’d call it 100% accidental: I don’t even think it was a free kick. I guess I have no faith in the current system.Devilhead wrote: ↑Sun 10 Apr 2022 5:41pmHawks player ran into him ... Contact was made after disposal of the ball. A free kick - no report.meher baba wrote: ↑Sun 10 Apr 2022 5:43pmClearly made contact to the point of his chin. And I think Long has done well. He’s made space for others and he’s also made the Hawks players think twice when they’re coming out of defence. As the old saying goes, stats aren’t everything.
But I agree that he’s got to become more disciplined in his tackling. It were always thus with him.

Liked Wanganeen-Milera running around the mark. Good that a kid in his ?third? game is prepared to back himself in.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Hawks Round 4 2022
What a fantastic first half! Overall we are moving the ball so well and making the most of the opportunities...
Ryder has been huge
Hill has been a line breaker
Ross making his touches count
We look very dangerous! Love this

Its just Hay is so lightly built and got winded, Ryder just stood his ground and braced he will be fine.

True. But he’s also made too many mistakes for mine.
Nevertheless, he’s quit a prospect.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Hawks Round 4 2022
The player Ryder bumped, Will Day, has been subbed out, that will look worse for Paddy i think.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
