Re: For the sake of our club, Hill has to be dropped
Hill to the wing - a great move?!
It was a fkn obvious move made too late
He was getting exposed down back, shouldn’t have taken until HT to realise that!
Paton and Sinclair moving back to their best positions helped, perhaps they should’ve started there

Re: For the sake of our club, Hill has to be dropped
Why was it made too late B.M.? Did we lose?
The move was made, which was great. We ran over the top of them so we had enough run. Seems the match committee selected the right balance for the opposition.

Re: For the sake of our club, Hill has to be dropped
If you can find 22 players at St Kilda that can play better with a hard tag than Hill then sure drop him.
However, you can't find those 22 so you don't drop him.
This talk of him being a protected species etc... is just ridiculous.
The guy wears a tag most weeks, which takes the pressure off the rest of the midfield, and still manages to be at least OK.
When he was at Freo he had Fyfe and Mundy taking the hard tag and he had a relative amount of freedom and played accordingly.
He comes here and sides know he is our most dangerous mid so shut down on him.
So according to some on here we should drop him so someone else can be shut out of the game and a kid can get 6 possessions. Absolute genius.

This sort of rubbish post is unworthy of comment, bet he gets a kick out of stirring s*** and watching all the outrage - ignore him and he'll go away...

Re: For the sake of our club, Hill has to be dropped
Dropping hill is like dropping Howard.
You can’t, there is no one else to replace them.
On occasions they both make mistakes, sometimes they need to be carried but they are the only ones that can give the team I. Hills case, line breaking run and Howard big body defence.
Finding the right matchup and position on the day is critical

Re: For the sake of our club, Hill has to be dropped
I like the panic Hill causes in the oppositions defense and zones. When he runs forward without the ball they are sent panicking to press back. It really opens up the ground for our forward moves.

Re: For the sake of our club, Hill has to be dropped
It would be good if this thread stuck to the facts
Watch the replay of the last 10 minutes of the 3rd and watch the last quarter
There were 3 St Kilda players who lined up on the wings after each goal...One was Wood, the other DMac and the other Lienert
Hill wasn't lining up on a wing in the last quarter and wasn't playing as our midfield winger

Re: For the sake of our club, Hill has to be dropped
I don't think it's ever too late to fix a problem
We developed a problem last year and it still hasn't been fixed.
No player should be immune from being dropped if they haven't performed in the role that was assigned to them or haven't contributed in a meaningful way
I think 'what we do internally' should be different to the statements we make publicly. I think the best thing to do as far as our opposition for next week is concerned is to keep the team unchanged...apart from any forced changes like Higgins

Re: For the sake of our club, Hill has to be dropped
I'm not in a position to watch a replay, unfortunately. I could have sworn in the last quarter that Hill was running the city side wing up to and into our F50.Scollop wrote: ↑Mon 04 Apr 2022 4:24pm It would be good if this thread stuck to the facts

He didn't start at HB & swap with Lienert or DMac after the clearance?
I'll take your word for it though.

St Kilda’s new Latin marque.
Cudos Ernie.
I love it.
You know what you are and you are gonna burn like Ernie’s comet. Fair play. And I don’t mind you taking a few down on the way.
I’m still working on it, but you are helping, in your own way. And it’s tasty.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!
