Re: Match Thread Rd 1 vs the Filth
After all the pre season optimising and cuddliness from Ratten - we look depressingly familiar with the same mediocre midfield and bomb it long game plan.

Yep. He did contribute in the last quarter. First game, very green....give him a go. Kent on the other hand - it's like continuing to bang your head on a brick wall coz you're convinced it's going to stop hurting.

Re: Match Thread Rd 1 vs the Filth
Pretty embarrassing when a team relies on a newbie like Hayes to bring them back into the game.
Another disheartening Friday night game.
The glaring truth is we have too many players on our list that wouldn't come close to getting a game at a top 4 club and continue to not make an improvement in their game.

25-18
2 50’s to zero
Jack Hayes head punched off play on
Then Wood pinned for holding it.
Just Razor caught up in the big club

i think owens will be better for having played that game. gave him an idea of what the big time is like and he can't just keep doing what he did in the juniors

Give him a go, fine, but not in the starting midfield. And certainly not when you have players like Gresham twiddling their thumbs in the forward line.st.byron wrote: ↑Fri 18 Mar 2022 10:44pmYep. Higgins and King 1.7 between them. Kent non existent.
Seriously BM you choose Brynes and Owens as your first call outs? Young better players who will be better for the experience, hardly expected to be match winners.

bottom line is our coach is simply unable to get us to play anything resembling a suitable game plan. unable to get us to put in a four quarter effort, and unable to get us to play with any real self belief, i actually think our list is better than the coach. not by much, but better. nice fella. make him a runner or move him on.

Owens and Byrnes were out of their depth

Re: Match Thread Rd 1 vs the Filth
The decision to play Mason Wood on a wing is dumb. They tried it with Battle and it didn't work. It shows our lack of depth in relation to runners. Wood is one-paced.

I mean across the team. Much as I hate them, Carlton looked hungry. We look the same as last yearThe Fireman wrote: ↑Fri 18 Mar 2022 10:53pmLong didnt playst.byron wrote: ↑Fri 18 Mar 2022 10:52pmYes his cuddliness grates on me when we continue to dish up dross. Yep, Wood is not a Langdon. He's better off taking any spot that may give Kent another game.

Re: Match Thread Rd 1 vs the Filth
All the issues that have been flagged for some time (slow midfield, bombing into the forward line, lack of spacing, poor structure etc etc) were on full display yet again tonight.
Moore is a good player and dumping the ball on King's head just made it too easy for Moore.
Very disappointed that time has moved on but nothing has changed.

Re: Match Thread Rd 1 vs the Filth
Lol it’s called development. I we can’t blood and develop new players how will we improve? Keep playing players like Kent? We should have been able to carry Byrnes and Owens and had a win.
