Someone like Byrnes/ Gresham becomes more important now to give the square something different than inside mids - Steele, Ross, Crouch

Let's hope he is OK and gets on top of things as soon as he can. The club seem to deal with these issues well now so hopefully he gets all the support he needs?

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Zak Jones personal leave
F-ck me we’re cursed as supporters. This time last year Ryder; now Jones. We don’t have the luxury of a decent amount of depth in our midfield and Jones is the only one with genuine breakaway speed. He’s our only point of difference in a still slow midfield group.
Imagine buying Foo Fighters tix only to find out Grohl won’t be fronting up?
That said - hope Zac is ok and returns healthy and happy sooner rather than later.

All the very best Zac - but ..... So it begins

Major Byrnes
Cometh the moment, cometh the major.
Dr. Crouch
Never say ‘ouch!!’
Lieutenant Ross
Never has there been a better time to shove a massive grenade up the backside of your critics
You be da Boss
I just took a pee on Clark Kent,
Said he was spent
But I do repent

He can rest up in the new Danny Frawley centre. I mean I don't get it on the eve of the season.

If it's a mental health issue then there is no time frame. Could be tomorrow, could 2 years.

Re: Zak Jones personal leave
A lot of people suffer from it in one shape or form. Interesting that no coaches do it i.e take stress leave.
They'd lose their job wouldn't they.

We are cursed. McCartin will probably come good as well.

They wouldn’t in this day and age. And they shouldn’t. They are a bit older than players and have probably developed coping mechanisms.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Fri 04 Mar 2022 5:27pm A lot of people suffer from it in one shape or form. Interesting that no coaches do it i.e take stress leave.

Re: Zak Jones personal leave
Supporters are entitled to feel flat about this news not only for Jones but for the club aswell..
As supporters we're all here to win games and Jones not playing (for whatever reason) makes it just that bit harder to do so. Unfortunately the reality is that ever year we lose important players from out team for one reason or another..

Almost word for word what I said...except for the Foo Fighters bit but that's spot on.Saintmatt wrote: ↑Fri 04 Mar 2022 3:19pm F-ck me we’re cursed as supporters. Jones is almost our most important player as far as raising us from mediocre to good.
Hope he gets his head right soon, often the best thing is to be busy and focused (on getting us a second flag)

Shaw went on leave just 18 months ago and quit as head coach soon after due to mental health.Gershwin wrote: ↑Fri 04 Mar 2022 6:46pmThey wouldn’t in this day and age. And they shouldn’t. Danny was only a year after leaving us as a coach.
2 years ago Clarkson said he knew 10 past senior coaches who had suffered mental health problems including Laidley.
Of course mental health problems hits assistant coaches as well. You just do not hear about it.

Re: Zak Jones personal leave
Best wishes to Zac.
As a peanut supporter devoid of empathy, I hope this doesn’t suggest anything about our team spirit/happy family thing.
I’ve had my doubts…and I’ve always wondered about those thrashings and stop/start seasons.
Thinking too much ..

Re: Zak Jones personal leave
Are you saying we haven’t had our share of bad luck?!
I could go on and on about how many good careers have ended prematurely
I could mention Paddy having weeks of last year killed us, Membrey and Ross be unavailable same week for family reasons
Now Zak our most important mid after Steele - out
Can’t take a trick
