Re: Paddy McCartin a Swan
Even though we delisted him, I feel cheated on this.
No 1 draft pick gone for nothing. It may or may not work for him. I hope he doesn't get any more concussions though.

Re: Paddy McCartin a Swan
Always knew he would end up on a list somewhere and repeatedly stated so on this forum..
Good luck Paddy.

Re: Paddy McCartin a Swan
It’s be so StK if he goes on and plays 100 good games at Syd
I suppose he’d just be following in the footsteps of plugger and Hall
BTW
Good luck to him, I hope he gets a decent run at it!

Re: Paddy McCartin a Swan
I wish Paddy all the best & I genuinely hope he can make the most of this opportunity but I'm glad that he not on our list with his history of head trauma . It might sound callous but now it's Sydney's issue if he suffers a life changing injury I hope it never happens but at least it wasn't on our watch

All the best, but one head knock away from serious issues.

Dead man playing.
The Swan's insurers will certainly have an escape clause.
I hope the Swans have got their legal clauses 100%.
If not, we could be seeing a bankrupted Sydney replaced by a team from Tasmania.

Re: Paddy McCartin a Swan
Good luck Paddy but I predict an unfortunate outcome.
The clock starts ticking from the moment he enters the ground for his first game.
Anyone care to predict how many minutes on the clock before he has to leave the ground from a head knock?
I bet it doesn't get to 300.

Re: Paddy McCartin a Swan
I wonder what type of waivers he's been made to sign by the AFL and Sydney. So many young players with far less publicised head knocks, chose retirement over risk.

Re: Paddy McCartin a Swan
What are they realistically thinking Paddy will be in 2022? I can't see much upside, but plenty of downside.

Re: Paddy McCartin a Swan
Interesting scenario…
You’re a defender, games on the line
Balls either kicked towards or Paddy has it…
There’s an opportunity there to crunch the pack hard to clear the ball or perhaps tackle Paddy hard to put him down.
Big ask to tell someone not to hesitate there or give it a second thought.
Interesting conundrum
One has to imagine that his time away from football has helped Paddy recover to the point that he can take a decent hit or fall to the ground with reasonable expectation that he won’t get so easily concussed as when he was with us in the latter stages.
I wonder how much footy he’s actually played in the last 2 years. Has he had a 12-16 match run without injury?

Re: Paddy McCartin a Swan
For no other reason than I just love a good news story in footy; I'd love to see him stick it up em so to speak and help his new club to ultimate success...after our own ultimate success that is.skeptic wrote: ↑Tue 01 Feb 2022 2:06pm Interesting scenario…

Imagine a Swans Vs Melbourne GF, with Richo, Dunstan and Paddy all walking around on the ground...you'd have to have a good laugh at it really to avoid going mad.
