Whats going on with NWM?
Whats going on with NWM? He was our shiny new 1st round recruit and we havent seen him.
I havent heard from him since he was rolled out following the draft 2021? I understand the club has had cut backs but their media team (if it exists) have been left wanting for sometime. There has been some media drip fed but little on the new recruits. Surely its in the clubs interest to keep supporters informed and engaged? Especially with their push to increase membership numbers.

Re: Whats going on with NWM?
The club really needs to invest in a better media department.
There's one channel I follow on Youtube which is really high quality and he does weekly reviews of the Saints and it's as good a quality as anything the club produces.
Given inside access he could be a real asset but instead we mostly get spin and fluff.

This was my father's belief
And this is also mine:
Let the corn be all one sheaf--
And the grapes be all one vine,
Ere our children's teeth are set on edge
By bitter bread and wine.

Re: Whats going on with NWM?
historically or while training with us

Re: Whats going on with NWM?
Injured or not IMO doesn't really matter at this stage as he will probably play at Sandy for the first half of the year if not the whole year . IMO he is great pick up but will need a lot of development before he get's a gig in the one's

Re: Whats going on with NWM?
He injured his knee on the 3rd of Dec. Not sure of the injury but 8-12 weeks is what I've read. So should be on the track soon and ready by March.
Slight set back but playing as a light, outside runner, with 3 years of U/18's or higher, against bigger bodies, he has proven to be quite durable so far.

Re: Whats going on with NWM?
He was drafted for a long successful career at the Saints, not for Round 1 2022.

Re: Whats going on with NWM?
well Im thinking about what has happened so far this year
the cricket has had disrupted playing lists due to covid infection as has basketball ( dont follow soccer so cant say)
Playing lists are going to be affected & on top of that you will have injuries
so fielding a squad of the best players each week is going to be critical
My recollection when we recruited NWM was he has already been playing against much bigger bodies so is a walk in ready made player ( CQS memory concurs...)

Re: Whats going on with NWM?
That not how I interpreted it but IMO only & everyone is entitled to their opinion. As I said in a previous post great pick up but very I much doubt he is a walk up starter in 2022sunsaint wrote: ↑Tue 25 Jan 2022 4:05pm well Im thinking about what has happened so far this year

Re: Whats going on with NWM?
Whether or not he is/was a walk up starter, he doesn't have a history of repeated injury.
While we lack midfielders with elite foot skills, there is no necessity for us to rush him into anything.
If you are wandering about walk up recruits,
check out Windhager, Owens and now Hayes.
There is three that are big chances of playing this yeR.
There are those associated with his junior development who believe he has everything that Brad Hill had to offer at the same age, minus a little of the burst of speed, but he offers better marking and tackling in contrast. Hill was drafted in 2011, played 5 games in 2012 and hasn't missed many games since averaging 21 games a year over the next 9 years.

Re: Whats going on with NWM?
I dont think anyone was expecting him to be a walk up start, I was just inquiring as to why he is not training? If he is injured or had an op then why havent the club reported it?CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Tue 25 Jan 2022 10:51pm Whether or not he is/was a walk up starter, he doesn't have a history of repeated injury.

Re: Whats going on with NWM?
Yeah not sure. He was on holidays for a month. Maybe his privacy was being protected, or should we start pumping him with intrusion and speculation. That will help his development.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 26 Jan 2022 9:51amI dont think anyone was expecting him to be a walk up start, I was just inquiring as to why he is not training? Re: Whats going on with NWM?
If NWM trained today then unfortunately it's time to move on to a New Drama.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

What???
I started the thread because we hadnt heard from him at training and the club hadnt reported anything injury wise? It was to raise a question, not to create drama as you put it.

He hurt his knee early December, he rested his knee, he is back training
Glad the club didn't report it ..... no need to shine the spotlight on the kid
