I must be the only person on the forum that actually loves Warnie's commentary.

Must be the St. Kilda bias showing. :)

Honestly is there anything worse than this type of day? I can handle a rained out day but this on again off again stuff where no one batting or bowling generates any rhythm is painful.

Bloody English weather I tell thee!

Is Waja always getting runs square of the wicket? Is Khawaja a 'square playert'?

Avoiding work as usual, i notice hhis wagon wheel.
Zero runs from on or off drives. Just one fine leg run, (scrape?)

This is interesting.

I wonder if that is an opening batsman trait.

Really hope that our selection isn't thinking of giving a 35 year old more game time over a youngster. Admittedly Harris has struggled at times but there has been bright spots. I'd select Harris over Khawaja in a heart beat. Test cricket takes time and Harris has looked capable at points.

Also obviouly he's just a stand in for Pucovski at this point. Play the youth. Khawaja is the past.
I think play the best available. If you've got two players who are pretty close, then I'd happily lean youth. Harris averages 25, Khawaja 40 (and I think that's more above 50 as an opener).

If you purely want to go youth then Renshaw should be playing. Averages 33 but has shown he can go big, looked much better than Harris does and didn't deserve to be dropped when he was.

Would be naive to think Langer's positive personal relationships with some players and not others has an influence in selection.

But yes I agree, they're all just filling in for Will P at this point, hopefully he can get back.

Wood could be mistaken for an Aussie. Good rugged looks, athletic and a very fast
talented bowler.

Great 50 from Khawaja too.

Broad is a canny old campaigner.

Unlikable.

Bowling barely medium pace, porky by his standards, getting clubbed by Smith..persists. Wicket.

Green has looked very ordinary with the bat this summer, which is worrying after looking so promising last year.

Khawaja is going to have to hope that the tail end can hold it together until he gets his century.

Langer is going to have to stop playing favourites and start picking on form

Well done Ussie, I hope you turn it into a big one. Even though I'd like to watch the Aussies bowl for an hour tonight.

Let's see how the Poms go on this wicket. Just read this on Cricinfo :
"Cricketing lore states that you should never judge a pitch until England have had a chance to collapse on it".

This will be a draw unless something quite dramatic happens.

Great effort by Bairstow, took him a while to get his last 20 runs to reach his ton.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I don't mind Bairstow, a fighter with a good attitude. I think he'd be someone good to have around on a tour, certainly in the trenches. Probably should be their Test keeper & then the Poms can ask whether Butler is actually a Test player without the keeping gloves.

Interesting. I perceive him as an archetypal pommy whinger. I don’t see him as having a good attitude at all. His look and body language when things don’t go his way make me really dislike him.

I've never heard him whinge, in fact the opposite. I guess that's a perception you have based on look. Interesting how two people can see something in the completely opposite way.

The poor look people have when things do not go their way is not restricted to Poms. Some wear their heart on theit sleeve. Roo was a very good example. Would happily line up and fight beside both.
