T20 is to test cricket what touch football is to rugby league.st.byron wrote: ↑Sat 01 Jan 2022 8:32amThat he has been called up as a possible test replacement on the back of T20 performances tells us everything we need to know about where first class cricket is at.

But cricket has been well and truly taken over by marketing image-meisters and corporate spin merchants. They can coo all they like about stewardship of the traditions of the game. Bottom line is the only thing they care about, and it is the only thing, is how much money can be made. Everything else if fodder for sacrifice on the altar of commerce.
A different game played with the same equipment and on the same ground.
It is time that the word cricket was ditched from T20.

Casey be for Melbourne reserves.
But yes, Green should step up.
Just curious.
You think Stuart Broad is cooked?
Given England's appalling decision making and captaincy, which I understand to have affected their loss to India at home this year, you have to wonder.
I think Woakes is a decent bowling allrounder, don't you? But maybe decent isn't good enough? I think Broad is still a good bowler, be it at Flemming speed and without the amazing swing.

Rubbish. Maybe borderline a better bowler but doesn't hold a candle to him as a batsman.
Looks like you know as much about cricket as you do about football.

32 Tests
Batting avg 25.2
Bowling avg 38.64
Versus
41 Tests
Batting avg 27.67
Bowling avg 29.9
Not hard to work out which of those players is better in both facets.
I’d suggest a bex and a good lie down, this modern world can be a tricky place for some!

Hopefully Usman has a big day and gives the selectors no excuse not to replace Harris with him at the top of the order in Hobart.

Re: ASHES 21/22
Really hope that our selection isn't thinking of giving a 35 year old more game time over a youngster. Admittedly Harris has struggled at times but there has been bright spots. I'd select Harris over Khawaja in a heart beat. Test cricket takes time and Harris has looked capable at points.
Also obviouly he's just a stand in for Pucovski at this point. Play the youth. Khawaja is the past.
