I guess he is related to both Wanganeen and Milera..not sure how the 2 name thing works.
and if he is half as good as Hill , I'll be happy.

Welcome aboard young man. Now to put some meat on those bones before he gets killed.
In all seriousness we've been crying out for good ball users and pure mids- not HBF who can move through the midfield. Looking fwd to seeing what he can do.

Re: Welcome to the Saints - Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
Yes, I agree moods, fingers crossed he becomes as durable a Burgoyne (& as good).
Ironically saint supporters cry foul of the recruitment of HBF who may become mids. I read a bio / opinion on NWM who said he could be a mid, winger or end up a HBF. This made me think about Sinn who wants to be a mid, has size, speed in buckets, foot skills but will begin across the half back line.
I think NWM is who many have cried out for, fingers crossed he adds size, endurance and does become the mythical X factor.

That's like saying he's tall compared to a dwarf!CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Wed 24 Nov 2021 9:02pmA nearly 4 inch taller Hill, but similar skills.
Watching him play against kids, he was very much like Hill, although against bigger bodies he seemed to be a little bit more urgent about finding some space and using his pace to find time. The kick is special, no doubt about it and he wastes no time dropping it on his foot, and looks like he likes to run his opponent around ahead of and from behind the ball.
He looks a little more courageous than Hill when you consider that he is a bolter and from 17 years of age, went from juniors to SANFL reserves to a SANFL Grand Final.

But he's not a pure mid from what ive seen and read. He's an outside reciever/ winger cum flanker... albeit with great skills..

They will not grow old, as those from more northern States grow old.
For them it will always be three-quarter-time, with the scores level
and the wind advantage in the final term.

His mother is the sister of Gavin Wankerneen of Essendon & Port Adelaide disgrace, and his step father Milera of St Kilda fame but I believe his biological father was former North player Eddie Sansbury. The Fireman wrote: ↑Thu 25 Nov 2021 4:30pm I guess he is related to both Wanganeen and Milera..not sure how the 2 name thing works.

I refuse to forgive the cheat who flopped to the ground to get a free kick and an opponent reported in Tasmania.
Fraser Gehirg was reported, Gehrig copped a massive abuse pile on by the TV commentators at time.
The entire media then piled on, wanting Gehrig to receive a long suspension.
It went to the tribunal.
Fortunately St Kilda produced an alternate angle of the incident.
It showed that Gehrig had swung a mock punch over Wanganeen's shoulder hitting fresh air.
No intention to hit Wanganeen.
After the free kick Wanganeen could have admitted his misbehaviour, he did not.
The filth of media never apologised for their character assassination of Gehrig just adding insult to injury by suggesting Gehrig deserved it anyhow.

Have you forgiven Roo for calling for a ball that wasn't his, or was he just being clever.ace wrote: ↑Fri 26 Nov 2021 5:13amHis mother is the sister of Gavin Wankerneen of Essendon & Port Adelaide disgrace, and his step father Milera of St Kilda fame but I believe his biological father was former North player Eddie Sansbury. The Fireman wrote: ↑Thu 25 Nov 2021 4:30pm I guess he is related to both Wanganeen and Milera..not sure how the 2 name thing works.

Everyone has acknowledged his foot skills. And I'm so glad that we are targetting skillful players. However I am concerned that he appears to be such an outside player. I admit that I have not seen him play live or seen much footage of him so can someone please inform me about his ball willing ability and willingness to put his head over the ball?

Other than the kick, his strength is evasiveness and athleticism.footynut wrote: ↑Fri 26 Nov 2021 11:09am Everyone has acknowledged his foot skills. Think Aussie Jones and Brad Hill.
He wasn't picked to win his own ball. He was picked because he is an opportunist and rarely wastes an opportunity.
He is going to find space, evade an opponent, take ground and find a target with precision. He won't shirk a contest and finds himself marking in congestion, reading the fall of the ball from packs and is very quick to release in congestion, and he has an uncanny ability to stay calm and find the right exit. He also holds his own in tackle counts.
Michito Owens and Marcus Windhager are the ball winning, hard running accumulators, who will go and get their own ball.

Re: Welcome to the Saints - Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
Who was the last player we drafted who had silky skills, speed, and evasiveness who was rated as highly as this guy? It's hard to think of one. Looks like someone who will create scoring opportunities for us. We've all had enough of stodgy, one-paced or slow guys who can't kick. Okay, so he's an outside player. Didn't stop Isaac Smith and Aussie Jones having stellar careers. Liam Ryan is doing okay at West Coast, too. The reality is, Wanganeen-Milera is a point of difference and every club needs one. Am I convinced he was the absolute right choice at pick 11? I don't know. Josh Sinn looked like a great talent, as did Johnson, but we have our guy now and let's hope he gives us that x-factor that's seriously lacking in our team.

After watching a couple of two minute videos and becoming an armchair expert. I'd say his strength is loose ball gets, reading the packs. Can't see him too in and under, but won't shirk a contest.
