Connor MacDonald is the only non-NGA player the Herald Sun has listed as someone we are looking at. A 184cm inside mid.

Would think he will go early 20's so don't see us getting a look in.

Firstly congratulations to Chris Libartore & James Gallagher on what appears a really sucessful draft. Wanganeen-Milera, Owens, Winghager & Adams are all great gets and fill voids on our list.

For the first time in years I trust the club are recruiting & trading with a planned purpose. The other thing this years drafting strategy suggests we are a strong chance to get Ben King next year.

So after adding 4 x players at the draft and including Campbell we now have 36 senior listed players. 4 cat A rookies, so that basically leaves us with 2 rookie list positions free. Then also the option of adding Peris & Kyke as Cat B rookies.

I wonder if we will fill the vacant rookie list position/s at tomorrow's draft or leave it free for the mid season option? Either way the recruitment team/club has created a great spring board for the future & with some luck we will return to playing finals next year.

With the greatest respect your opinion is very one dimensional.

The kid has many attributes for which you give him no credit.

He is a silky evasive outside mid with elite kicking skills.

He is also a very good over head mark.

There is room for improvement in some areas but the stand out feature of NWM is his ability to rise to every challenge he is presented.

So I expect him to thrive in an elite football atmosphere and quite frankly so should you.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Recruiters are so overrated. Any one of us could have made exactly the same selections for zero salary.
How much would Liberatore earn? Cushiest job at the club.

I concur dc. We picked up two big bodied mids in our NGAs. I suspect if Gibcus had slid past Richmond we may have chosen him. It appears to have been out of NWM and Sinn. The Club opted for a Wing / HFF instead of the HBF / Mid. An exciting selection which should please those crying out for X factor.

What's exciting is we start the year with a healthy Gresham, a trimmer Higgins and then can look forward to adding NWM. If Butler regains his 2020 form and King continues the flashes of dominance he ended the season with our attack will be very dangerous.
There's some x factor up around the forward arc and around the peripheral of the forward half stoppages.

It certainly IS exciting CQ SAINT - can't remember a draft in recent years where St Kilda has taken such 3 really promising mids.

Nasiah Wanganeen Milera in the highlights reels posted in a different thread shows off his excellent decision making with ball in hand, superb disposal and wonderful evasive skills.

He is 5 cm taller than Nicky Winmar yet moves like Cyril Rioli and oozes class!

Together with Max Heath who was taken in the mid-year draft the Saints now have a handful of young future stars to set the team up for greater success.

Having said that, there have been many times in the past when I've felt really upbeat about our team's prospects, only to see them dashed when push has come to shove - but hey, that's the crazy journey that being a staunch Saints supporter is all about

Pre selected rookie "B" candidates will not be called they will simply be added to the rookie list.
Josiah Kyle and Jack Peris are likely to be added by St Kilda.

Could we move Joyce to a cat B rookie or even delist him I know we have to pay him out but 1 year rookie pay is not that much.
That would give us options to pick up either 2 rookies this year or 1 mature and 1 rookie and still have a spot for mid season draft!

Im really happy with our draft haul - I wonder if the club are looking at some older players to train with us and look at adding them as rookie SSP? Or perhaps they are happy to keep the list spots open looking towards the MSD.

We can't take everyone at the drafts but Patrick Voss (Essendon) was one who really stood out as availvable in the rookie draft. I was really surprised GWS didn't take him as an Academy player? He is 194cm KPP player who plays with a real aggressive/imposing edge and can play at both ends. Plays a bit like a quicker more aggressive Battle. He averaged 15 disposals per game for Oakleigh Chargers and Essendon have picked up a Hurley replacement. I love kids who play like they are the Alpa male and he definitely has that!

PATRICK VOSS AT A GLANCE:

Position: Utility
Team: Oakleigh Chargers/GWS Giants Academy
Height: 194cm
Weight: 84kg
DOB: June 29, 2003
Key strengths: Booming kick, physicality, strong marking

Interesting that 4 years ago we bid on Patrick Naish (Pick 34, 2017), I wonder if we will give him a chance to train with us over the preseason.

He averaged 27.5 disposals and 1 goal a game in the VFL this season.

Its a possibility but would just fire more debate about another quick player who is light and doesn't win contested ball. Thats why Richmond dumped him.
