He'll say we needed a CHB instead of an outside receiver

Re: Welcome Michito and Windy
Points are irrelevant after pick 40.
After that it is next available pick.
The other 2 blokes will not be picked in the first 40.
Even then, I would assume they won’t get picked at all in the main draft, which will mean we can pre select them as cat b rookies.
If they do get bid on in the main draft, we may let them go, like we did Biggy a couple of years ago.

Really like the look of Windhager... seems like a tough but smart mid. A bit of a bull
Owen is harder to read as most of his highlights are him taking marks

Re: Welcome Michito and Windy
Agreed on Windhager. There a little bit of Steele in him, potentially.
Owens looks solid, strong and courageous and has that not quite finished growing look about him and his weight has risen at a similar rate to what his height has.
The marks are the highlights.
He was 190cm at the start of the season, now 191cm and 86kg. In 2019 he was a small forward at 175cm 73kg.
Given the new marking prowess, the defensive aspects added to his game, the fact he can leap and has rucked at NAB level and has develop a 18- 20 possesion average with a high contested ball winning percentage running in the midfield, you can only be impressed by the development in 2 covid ravaged seasons.
I'm thinking he could develop to anywhere between a Jason Blake utility to a potential powerful Cripps like mid/forward who can actually kick the ball. Here's hoping.

Re: Welcome Michito and Windy
we will still be able to get these two players but most likely we will go into deficit unless they both really slide. as it stand the next pick is 21 1096. If Owens went here we would get a 20% discount and need approx 880. Our next pick is 55 now 57 worth 394 points. We have other picks in the 3 picks 60 which will be worth about 800 combined. Long story short owens will need to slide to over 40 or we go into deficit which means next years draft is impacted

Couple thing on that one.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Wed 24 Nov 2021 11:29pmwe will still be able to get these two players but most likely we will go into deficit unless they both really slide. as it stand the next pick is 21 1096. Our picks are now
Picks 48, 54, 58, 59, 76 due to the sliding down after wb and Coll matching bids, so now they are worth more.
Also, the 20% discount is not the case after pick 20, it is now a flat discount (I think it is 187 points) up until pick 40 which it then becomes next available pick.
You need a maths degree to keep up with this stuff, and it changes with every pick and bid.

Thanks I must have got my info from the wrong website and I only did one semester of afl draft calculations. Either way the further they slide the better.diddley wrote: ↑Thu 25 Nov 2021 7:39amCouple thing on that one.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Wed 24 Nov 2021 11:29pmwe will still be able to get these two players but most likely we will go into deficit unless they both really slide. as it stand the next pick is 21 1096. Depending on where they go we could be left with a surplus draft pick in the 50s or we could end up in a slight deficit.

Still some chance our picks could improve, three father sons still on board (woewodin, archer and Burgoyne) and numerous NGA and Northern Academy nominations that could consume picks.Viscount Jeremiah wrote: ↑Thu 25 Nov 2021 9:56am197 points but otherwise you are spot on.diddley wrote: ↑Thu 25 Nov 2021 7:39amCouple thing on that one.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Wed 24 Nov 2021 11:29pmwe will still be able to get these two players but most likely we will go into deficit unless they both really slide. as it stand the next pick is 21 1096. Overall I think our team has done really well to improve our draft hand and points total given what we started with.

Re: Welcome Michito and Windy
Dal Santo (their academy coach from day 1) has said that Windhager is like a Luke Ball when he was first drafted - very strong ball-winner with good skills who bursts away from contests) and that Owens has had an eerily similar path to Bont ... unexpectedly grew a lot in his U18 year and moved from a smaller player to a genuine marking player whilst maintaining his midfield chops.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Wed 24 Nov 2021 11:14pmAgreed on Windhager. Re: Welcome Michito and Windy
While i am wrapped the academy kids are available to get after the 20 picks gone, I think many need to take a breath and wait and see where they are selected before we start making comparisons and expecting the next Bont, Cripps Blake or anything in between. Being selected by another team gives a better indication of where they are viewed rather than a bias in house view. If we get one in the 20-30 range then that's exciting as is a steal considering our draft hand coming in.
