NGA prospect Windhager injured
Hopefully not a bad one, bytel also had a back injury coming in to the club so we at least have some recent experience managing these injuries in young players. Might be a blessing if any club was considering taking a shot at him inside the top 20:

This could be a blessing in disguise. Guarantees he won't be taken in top 20

Re: NGA prospect Windhager injured
Do we have the right to rookie him if nobody selects him in the draft?
Edit...
I found the answer to my own question.

AFL wrote:There will be three periods where clubs can nominate a previously undrafted or eligible player to their respective rookie lists throughout the season – after round four, eight and 12.
In the case of the same player being nominated by two or more clubs, the player will go to the team lower on the ladder under a rolling process.

Dodgy or not. Hope we draft him. All's fair in this game.

Re: NGA prospect Windhager injured
It seems Owens is probably going earlier
Pick 15-25
Maybe we should say he’s injured too!!!

Re: NGA prospect Windhager injured
Is Windhager still worth the risk with all those injury concerns ?
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: NGA prospect Windhager injured
On the basis all we have to do is match the bid of course he’s worth it
I reckon owens goes outside the 20
And I reckon peris will end at the saints as well
Could be an outstanding draft hall which will fundamentally cost us pick 9 only for which we’ll get a player over and above the nga kids
Please footy gods please

Re: NGA prospect Windhager injured
This interview with Marcus was held on 12.10.21.
https://www.listennotes.com/podcasts/ha ... O-Eby_XrA/
He says he had a bulging disc in his L5-S1 which he suffered earlier in the season and flared again while he was he was training for the combine. He has had an epidural and now its just a matter of resting it, before he starts his rehab. He speaks well and sounds a quality kid, lets hope the injury and media around his back scares some clubs and he gets through to us - as he is exactly the player we need?
Common injection treatments for L5-S1 include:
Lumbar epidural steroid injections. Steroids injected directly into the spinal epidural space can help decrease inflammation and reduce the sensitivity of nerve fibers to pain, generating fewer pain signals. These injections are more effective in treating the inflammatory causes of pain, such as pain from herniated disc fragments, and are typically less effective for compressive causes of pain.
I have said this before, I rate Windhager much higher than Owens and am more concerned about him being bid on in the top 20 than Michito. In fact if it wasnt for that 1 trial game with Vic Metro, I believe Owens may have slid through as a rookie?

Re: NGA prospect Windhager injured
Not great if the disc bulge is large enough that he needs epidural. Would need a year off footy ypu would think.

Hopefully not. Below from Mayfield Clinic site-Banger9798 wrote: ↑Fri 22 Oct 2021 9:16am Not great if the disc bulge is large enough that he needs epidural. Would need a year off footy ypu would think.
What treatments are available?
Conservative nonsurgical treatment is the first step to recovery and may include medication, rest, physical therapy, home exercises, hydrotherapy, epidural steroid injections (ESI), chiropractic manipulation, and pain management. With a team approach to treatment, 80% of people with back pain improve in about 6 weeks and return to normal activity. If you don’t respond to conservative treatment, your doctor may recommend surgery.
