The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Lonie
Not a good draft overall - probably only a half dozen that people outside of their own teams would know by name.

Re: Lonie
Cheers Jack & thanks, you played 87 more games for the Saints than I did. Look forward to catching up with you at Seaford in the future. Good luck at Frankston.

Re: Lonie
Sorry for Lonie.
He was consistently not quite up to it, but Jeez he tried, and he kicked some absolute genius goals that I won't ever forget.
Thanks for those memories, and for being a committed Saint, Jack Lonie

Re: Lonie
Different types of players but at this stage Kent is better. More powerful. I love Lones but he has two major weaknesses... He has no right foot and he lacks kicking penetration.
He will dominate at Frankston. Something I find interesting is that his dominant VFL midfield form is similar to that of Luke Dunstan. Make of that what you will.
I doubt he'll get another crack but 87 AFL games (with plenty of good ones) is nothing to sneeze at, especially for a bloke of his size.

Re: Lonie
I actually thought at one stage he might make it there during the first 6 or 7 games of the 2019 season. He was on fire until he got injured.
It’s the right decision.

Not exactly a tackling machine either and gets brushed aside too easily.lewdogs wrote: ↑Fri 15 Oct 2021 9:24pmDifferent types of players but at this stage Kent is better. More powerful. I love Lones but he has two major weaknesses... He has no right foot and he lacks kicking penetration.

Re: Lonie
Had some good games but as a small forward you have to make every post a winner & he just could not convert his opportunity's . Could not stick a tackle ,no tank to play anywhere else ,not good overhead, but the nail in the coffin was just could not find the goals . I wish Jack all the best in whatever the future hold for him

Re: Lonie
Yep it might be hard to do em all this year but next dead wood cull has to include Kent .....not the future and we need better depth to be top 2 challengers

If they keep Kent, they have rocks in their heads.
What's he ever done of note?
Even the Suns wouldn't look at him if he was available.

Re: Lonie
Yeah he looked like he was going to make it before he got tunneled and did his knee.
Great VFL player. No doubt about it. He would tear the odd game apart for Sandringham.
He was just too small for his first few years. Opposition just walked the ball through him.
Ultimately he is too one sided and not reliable enough in front of goal. Averaged less than one goal per game over his journey.
Small forward is really the toughest position. You have to be very good to make it, or the shelf life is not very long.

Re: Lonie
He's shown flashes, but M.I.A way too often. Makes dumb errors. Plays one decent game amongst four or five crap games. I'm harsh on him because he's become to me, emblematic of the mediocrity of the Richo years. Am sure he's a nice fella. Good luck to him. I reckon he'll get a one year contract and I hope he proves me wrong. He's got a good boot on him, he's barrel chested and can run.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Sat 16 Oct 2021 1:29amIf they keep Kent, they have rocks in their heads.
