Re: Trade-Draft 2021 Discussion
So let me get this straight. [Assuming no more trades etc]
North can Bid on Daicos at Number 1
3,000 points then gets discounted to 2,400 points.
Collingwood currently have (picks with value) 27, 36, 43, 46, 48, 55, 58 which total 2,593 points so they cash them in and get Daicos and pick 56 in return
North can then Bid on Darcy at Number 2
2,517 points then gets discounted to 2,013.6 points.
Bulldogs currently have (picks with value) 23, 44, 45, 52 which become 24, 42, 43, 48 total 1,938 points so they cash them in and get Darcy but owe 75.6 in points
OR
North can Bid on Darcy at Number 1

North can Bid on Daicos at Number 2

Collingwood currently have (picks with value) 27, 36, 43, 46, 48, 55, 58 which become 28, 37, 44, 45,47,53,56 total 2,618 points so they cash them in and get Daicos and keep picks 47 and 53 and gain 69
So it would depend on who North want to stuff up!!!!!!
After all this:
We had - 9, 49 and 67 and traded for 9, 62, 66 and 67
So in points for 2021 draft (as we still have next years 4th):
Scenario 1 - We would have moved to 501 points, now we move to 440 points (From picks 11, 43 and 62 to 11, 57, 61 and 62)
Scenario 2 - We would have moved to 479 points now we move to 371 points (From picks 11, 43 and 62 to 11, 57, 61 and 62)
So we want North to bid on Daicos first
Use our Pick 11 with no bids on NGA in the first 20
then no more than 1 bid on NGA from 21 - 40 (as we cannot afford 2 only having 440 + 197 points discount without drawing on next year) and the minimum in this range would cost us 429 points (232 after discount).

Re: Trade-Draft 2021 Discussion
Well yes. But, if a second bid came through between 21-40, it would come off our second or third round next year, depending on which round the bid came this year. This means we can essentially use next years points, without having to trade this year, and our first round pick won’t be touched anyway.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Sun 10 Oct 2021 8:31am

This boy Josh Goater 191cm & 80kgs will do for our first round draft pick. A tall quick strong marking genuine midfielder, with sensationally creative hands.

If we had a hope at 9 - then we have the same hope at wherever the Father-Son picks force us to.

Not really as it means that we now get the 11th best player in the draft and not the 9th best.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Mon 11 Oct 2021 10:38am If we had a hope at 9 - then we have the same hope at wherever the Father-Son picks force us to.
The Dogs two years running get to up what was already a lot of good young talent with Pick 1/ Pick 2-4.
We are not competing on a level playing field. .

Must be the quietest trade period of all time.
Cerra perhaps the biggest trade, after that a few B and C grade stand-offs.
Unless there is a flurry tomorrow it looks like an even more tedious 10 day yawn a thon than usual

Re: Trade-Draft 2021 Discussion
Yes, worst trade period i can remember.
I can't believe what Geelong is asking for for it's reserves players, they have lost the plot. Wells needs to retire, he no longer has a clue.
What about Sydney and Dawson, they should have taken pick 17 when Adelaide said they could get it from the Dogs, Dawson is not a top 10 pick.
Another club that wants overs.
North can keep it's cherry if they want overs.
Let's see what Wednesday brings.

Xerri has requested a trade to St Kilda, which is planning for life after Paddy Ryder, who may be entering his final AFL season. The Roos’ trade for Callum Coleman-Jones pushes Xerri down the ruck depth chart and he sees a clearer path to opportunities at the Saints. But North is standing firm on his value.
Verdict: Deal

Idiots
Would be a pick in the mid to late 40’s (?)
IF he’s still a target next year, he’ll be uncontracted & probably cheaper

It all depends on when the bids come for those players, if it's top 20 we are done, if it's 21 to 40 it might be tight to get them, if it's 41 onwards we'll get them.vacuous space wrote: ↑Wed 13 Oct 2021 8:43pm Does anyone know if we have the requisite picks to match potential bids for the NGA kids without impacting next year's draft?

Top-20 is going to mean first round by the time picks are added in for Daicos and Darcy, right?
Do you know exactly what the situation is in the 21-40 bracket? I was reading somewhere that the FS selections would improve the point position of our late picks, I'm just not sure how much. Has anyone done the point maths on how many picks will need to be used to match FS bids?

This link may help a bit with NGA selections, including a table on what each NGA bid costs, some have said the 197 points listed for picks 21 to 40 is the points discount we get for bids in that range.

Re: Trade-Draft 2021 Discussion
Picks presently sit at 9, 62, 66 & 67.
But Collingwood will eventually be forced to queue jump for Daicos.
and Bulldogs force to queue jump for Darcy.
Those will push pick 9 down to pick 11.
I will assume Daicos is called before Darcy
Colliingwood has picks 27, 36, 46, 48, 55, 58, 78, 79
Points values of 703, 502, 331, 302, 207, 170, 0, 0 = total 2215 points
If North were to call Daicos first Collingwood would need 2400 points, they would use 6 picks and still be 185 points short.
Those would come from their 2020 1st round pick causing it to be demoted.
But the noise is North could give a stuff about making Collingwood pay full price for Daicos, they will name Horne-Francis.
GWS has pick no 2, again they should call Daicos but last year the F---heads let Collingwood of the hook by not forcing Collingwood who had the next pick to use that pick on 16 their NGA player Reef McInnes.
Collingwood called Lachie Jones but were trumped by Port Adelaide then Collingwood called Oliver Henry then GWS had the next pick and once again allowed Collingwood off the hook by selecting Ryan angwin at pick 18
Collingwood got to pick Finlay McRae at pick 19
Then Collingwood waited for Reef McInnes to be called at pick 23 before queue jumping.
GWS had effectively given Collingwood a bonus late first round pick.
So I am going to assume GWS F---heads fail again.
That leaves Gold Coast with pick 3 to force Collingwood to queue jump.
That requires Collingwood to stump up 1788 points.
That will cost them 4 picks 27, 36, 46, 48
Early picks move back 1 place but later picks will move forward
But Collingwood will left with 50 points remainder.
That remainder turns pick 48 into pick 69
Collingwood's remaining picks will advance to 52, 55, 69, 76, 77
Collingwood now has picks
St Kilda's picks will move to 10, 59, 63 & 64
Now the Bulldogs start with picks 23, 43, 44, 45, 52, 93
These become 23, 42, 43, 44, 49, 90 .
These worth 815, 395, 378, 362, 287,0
The Bulldogs need to stump up 1628 points
That will cost them 4 picks 23, 42, 43, 44 but that will leave them picks 45, 52 with 322 remainder = pick47
But those picks will move St Kilda picks to 11, 57, 61, 62
Those last 3 picks will be worth 182, 135 & 123 points a total of 440.
Now St Kilda will need to queue jump for NGA players but receive a 197 point discount for players called 21 to 40.
That is not enough for any NGA player falling in the range 21 to 29.
St Kilda could well be using 2nd round and 3rd found picks from 2022 to make up necessary points.
Any NGA called after 41 and beyond will be a freebie if St Kilda want him.

Re: Trade-Draft 2021 Discussion
Cheers for that. I did some very rough maths and, if I'm anywhere close to correct (a big if), we should be fine if one of them goes in that 21-40 bracket - even if North chicken out and don't bid on Daicos. Obviously, the earlier both the FS prospects get taken, the better. Getting our third pick above pick 56, where we'd be at a really marginal deficit, seems unlikely. EDIT: I'd forgotten that our fourth pick was in the points range, so I think we should be fine (???) as long as nobody uses a first rounder on Windhager or Owens.Wayne42 wrote: ↑Wed 13 Oct 2021 9:48pm Yes, the top 20 picks will make up the first round due to the 2 father son bids.
This link may help a bit with NGA selections, including a table on what each NGA bid costs, some have said the 197 points listed for picks 21 to 40 is the points discount we get for bids in that range.

Re: Trade-Draft 2021 Discussion
Good work, too bad we have to wait until November 24th (round 1) and November 25th (Round 2 onwards) to find out, the draft is spread out over 2 nights.vacuous space wrote: ↑Wed 13 Oct 2021 10:09pmCheers for that. The Pre-season and Rookie drafts are on the 26th.
Unless the AFL changes the dates.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

2 Paul Hunter - Uncontracted
3 Darragh Joyce - Uncontracted
4 Cooper Sharman 2023
5 Callum Wilkie - 2023 Can be retained as a rookie for 4th season due to rule change https://www.afl.com.au/news/659265/afl- ... or-rookies
6 Mason Wood 2022
Senior list must be 36 to 38
Rookie A list must be 4 to 6
Total senior plus rookie A players no more than 42
2 rookie B allowed on top
Must make a total of 3 draft selections or rookie promotions
Only selections activated by vacancies can be used.
That means to use multiple picks to queue jump a club must have all those picks activated by vacancies.
So as it stands St Kilda can make 5 senior selections but zero rookie selections.
However Kent & Lonie remain uncontracted so the number of senior selections could increase.
Hunter and Joyce remain uncontracted so the number of rookie selections could increase or senior selections increase.
