Re: Dunstan
I other clubs were fighting each other for Dunstan's services he would have been snapped up as a free agent already. He's not a priority for any club. They see him as a back up midfielder

Due to a personality clash with the coach it would seem. On field performance is 100% deserving of a spot.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Mon 04 Oct 2021 9:21amAnd yet the club still doesn't want him. Or other clubs for that matter. His FA value is like his football, extremely limited.

Don't know that it is a personality clash. Apparently doesn't follow team rules which will always not sit well with the coach.The_Dud wrote: ↑Mon 04 Oct 2021 2:38pmDue to a personality clash with the coach it would seem. If The Dud says it's a personality clash then that's what it is.
After all, when it comes to Dunstan, The Dud is the resident expert on here.
I just wish Dunstan would hurry up and let us know which of the many offers he's going to accept so that I'll know which forum to go look for The Dud's comments once he follows him out of here.
Surely the Dud is going to follow Dunstan, once he no longer plays for the Saints?

Re: Dunstan
I'm more inclined to believe that Dunstan didn't train well in the pre-season as the main reason Ratten would indicate to him that he wasn't rated. Ratten's an experienced coach and I can't imagine he would be down on a player who did all the things required of him to prepare for the new season, it certainly would not have been simply a clash of personalities.Gershwin wrote: ↑Mon 04 Oct 2021 4:42pmDon't know that it is a personality clash. Unfortunately, and whatever the reason, Luke Dunstan (who I rated and considered potential captain) failed to achieve his potential in his 8 years with St Kilda, which explains why he hasn't had many, if any, clubs knocking on his door.
"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

Re: Dunstan
Did he have potential
The guy couldn’t kick or run?!
A couple of his interviews this season after games, he looked as though he was playing in spite of the coaches and club. He was visibly pissed off!!
Carried on like an arrogant prick
Compare that to the way Mitch Wallis has carried himself

Re: Dunstan
Exactly Teflon. After his first two years on $65K pa ... if you take the AFL average salary of $350K pa - he's fleeced us for $2,230,000. I can only dream of being paid ~$2.2M over 8 years to be that mediocre at my job.
We truly are an enabler club.
Thank us indeed.

Re: Dunstan
Don't know why anyone would be upset Dunstan is moving on. Like a few have stated he is a 2nd string mid who has no spread and butchers the ball. The only error here is we didn't shop him 3 years ago and get something (anything) of value.
If we want to improve or even compete for top 6 we can't have players of his ilk that also have an attitude. Other clubs aren't exactly falling over themselves to sign him and this really just validates the Saints decision to move him on.

Maybe he wasn't following team rules though? He might have been told to stop outplaying some of his more higher paid and experienced team mates and didn't listen, who knows?
He is one of our captains best mates, so yeah, must be a sh*t bloke!

When it comes to Dunstan nobody on this site has a better insight than you.
So can you give us the goss?
After all, when it comes to Luke Dunstan you're the ITK
Which of the myriad of offers from other clubs is he going to accept.
Obviously his 11 Brownlow votes in half a season has suitably impressed many clubs.

Re: Dunstan
From the heraldsun.com.au
He really did s*** on the saints didn't he. More from what he implied rather than said.
What he said was bad enough though.
LUKE DUNSTAN
"The now former Saint gave a revealing interview on 3AW last month, saying he would’ve rejected another contract from St Kilda if he’d been offered one.
He claimed he’d become “stale” at the Saints and that coach Brett Ratten “didn’t rate me”.
He is on the hunt for a new club after he and the Saints agreed to part ways after eight seasons.
He had a solid 12-game campaign in 2021, in which he averaged 25.3 disposals, 11.2 contested possessions and 5.8 clearances.
Dunstan said wanted to find a new footy home where he felt “valued as a player and as a person and just feel a part of something”. The 26-year-old has attracted some interest from Essendon this past fortnight."
MIGHT SUIT: Essendon, Gold Coast

Re: Dunstan
If there are no takers Dunstan might end up in the SANFL, they might value him.
As long as we don't draft him back mid season.
As long as we don't draft him back mid season.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Yep, good stance Luke. Australia's unemployment lines are littered with people knocking back job opportunities they are too good for. The difference is, some of those job offers actually happened.

According to Tom Browne on Twitter, could be headed to the dees as early as tomorrow. Richo is apparently still a fan.
