Re: Patrick Naish
Why have Richmond let go
Butler
Higgins
Chol
Can’t keep them all, when you’re a gun side. Sign players like Tom Lynch on 800+ When Dusty is on 800 and they have to pay Bolton, Prestia, Reiwoldt, Edwards, Cotchin, Nankervis, Lambert, Rioli, Vlaustin, Grimes
Something has to give at the other end
Question Teflon
Crouch wins his own ball
Should we have 8 Mids like him?
You have inside Mids
Crouch, Steele, Bytel
You have inside/Outside Mids
Jones, Gresham, Hannebery, Ross, Clark
Outside Mids
Billings, Hill, McKenzie
Butler
Higgins

Re: Patrick Naish
Richmond recruits mentioned were all traded for draft picks or left as FA... This guy was not offered a contract and then delisted.. Bit different..B.M wrote: ↑Sat 02 Oct 2021 11:53pm Why have Richmond let go

Doesn't look like he's leaving Adelaide but im not against getting Talia as a proven talent to fit a purpose but im still unsure why Naish is worth getting..?

Chol
- they wanted to keep but couldn’t offer him a good enough contract
Higgins
- they got a future second for and traded him as they thought they had 3 small forwards ahead of him
Butler
- 4th round selection and he wasn’t getting a game at Richmond
When looking at fringe players to bring in
Go to strong clubs and look at what they have a surplus of, and see if anyone decent is not getting a game
Lipinski is a prime example
Naish
Clearly behind Edwards, Lambert and Bolton as a midfield/HF runner.
Could add depth and ball use on a wing or Hf

Re: Patrick Naish
Was Naish getting a game in the second half of season? They recruited Parker in mid season draft and played him and recontracted him .Naish must be considered behind Parker

Re: Patrick Naish
exactly what i was thinking, Dropped Naish but picked up Parker. Naish will be another Lonie, too good for VFL not good enough for AFL. Unless he came cheap and didn't take up a spot from someone else he would be back up at best but we already have enough back up players

Very different player to Dunstan
If he comes it will be as a developing Wing/HF
If Ross goes, might be a wing back up

He will provide outside speed not unlike Brett Peake, some players are just not contested ball winners but offer other strengths.

delisted free agent costs nothing and cheaper and more upside than say a Lonie or Kent surely.

Re: Patrick Naish
If he costs nothing then why not. Could be better than Lonie.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

So what is Byrnes actual preferred position as I haven’t seen his name mentioned in this discussion. Is he midfield rotation or forward ? Naish has a lot of blokes in front of him if we just want depth would rather they kept Clav

Re: Patrick Naish
My dad and I met Naish at the draft when it was up here in Sydney. We got Coffield and Clark's autograph, and my dad separately got Naish's autograph. Besides our boys, was the only other player my dad had a talk with. We both feel like it is almost fated Saints will sign him up. I think Naish is worth a punt

Re: Patrick Naish
Seriously I cannot believe we would be interested in Naish
When the Tigers could barely field a mid field through all the injuries he could still hardly get a game.
We don’t need another smallish lightly built player, did anyone from our club watch the grand final. It is all about big explosive players, if you were going to take a player cheaply then Hamish Hartlett (probably too old but ..) or Powell Pepper (could be available)

Re: Patrick Naish
I think you mean Ed Langdon!!
No. But there is one important difference Langdon can run all day. Can Naish.
Now Ross has resigned we don’t need anymore outside players.
My point re explosive mids is that is what we need ( and yes they don’t grow on trees. So let’s plant our own seeds rather than recycling)
