Re: Assistant Coaches
If the club is using another club as a resource, it's good that they are poaching from a successful one.saynta wrote: ↑Thu 23 Sep 2021 2:40pm We are getting a bit of a hawks look about us.
From the age.com.au
"Meanwhile, St Kilda confirmed on Thursday that they had signed Damian Carroll as the club’s head of development and learning. Carroll had spent one year on Collingwood’s coaching panel following a stint at Hawthorn, where he worked with Brett Ratten, David Rath and Jarryd Roughead, all currently part of the Saints’ football department.
“We’re really excited by what Damian can add to our football program,” Saints chief operating officer Simon Lethlean said.
“Damian’s had a long and successful career in developing footballers and we know that his experience with premiership sides will also be a great advantage for the club.
“The development of our younger players has never been more important with the impacts that COVID-19 has had on the pathway and state level competitions, and we believe Damian is the right person to lead this work.”
I still can't believe St Kilda and Hawthorn were playing for each clubs 2nd flag in the Grand Final of 1971.
Hawks now have 13, Saints still only 1. That is shite.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Assistant Coaches
By all accounts Damian Carroll is very highly regarded in the AFL circle - so another great appointment by the club.

Re: Assistant Coaches
Maybe Finnis saw Sexton wandering around the corridors so he asked Ratts if he'd give Sexton a coaching role as they are 1 short.
Stay tuned.

Re: Assistant Coaches
Congratulations to Adam Strobolak who today was appointed senior coach of Port Melbourne. Quality bloke and far better assistant coach of the Saints than most here would have realised. Beat a fairly talented group of contenders.

Skrobalak
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Assistant Coaches
Let's see how he goes at a standalone club with no AFL players, Ayres was always competitive there as coach.

Re: Assistant Coaches
Hopefully our next 50 years are as sucessful as Hawthorn has been over that period. Its a shame most of us wont be around to see it, I would be happy to experience one win before Im done.Wayne42 wrote: ↑Thu 23 Sep 2021 4:33pmIf the club is using another club as a resource, it's good that they are poaching from a successful one.saynta wrote: ↑Thu 23 Sep 2021 2:40pm We are getting a bit of a hawks look about us.

He had a good run, if he was that highly rated in the industry he would have been picked up by another AFL club. There is always someone to fill the void and they will hopefully come with fresh eyes and new ideas?tony74 wrote: ↑Thu 23 Sep 2021 10:36pmEy appollogize four mi spilllling messtake.

He got picked up as the senior coach of a very successful VFL team, even better.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Fri 24 Sep 2021 12:41amHe had a good run, if he was that highly rated in the industry he would have been picked up by another AFL club. Re: Assistant Coaches
Sometimes organisations need change and renewal through change. Most of us wouldn’t have a clue about this guy, so why are we commenting at all, except to say thank you for your service, we wish you well for the future.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

by being Asssistant with us, it would have helped him get the senior coaching role at Port Melbourne.

Re: Assistant Coaches
I thought he was a western Jets coach
If he was a very good assistant we would have re contracted him
You don’t change something that is working well

Re: Assistant Coaches
No sorry it was Frankston he coached not Dandy. I will take tony's word that he was a good assistant coach.
"Skrobalak this year coached the Saints' forward line after leading the midfield on the run to finals in 2020.
A champion footballer at local level, Skrobalak previously coached county football clubs and in the TAC Cup before joining the Saints in 2015. He worked in ruck coaching and development to start his time with the Saints and coached VFL club Frankston in 2018 while still part-time at AFL level. "

Re: Assistant Coaches
I doubt its a full time role and anywhere near the $$$ he was on at St Kilda - so I hardly believe its a step up!!saynta wrote: ↑Fri 24 Sep 2021 9:41amHe got picked up as the senior coach of a very successful VFL team, even better.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Fri 24 Sep 2021 12:41amHe had a good run, if he was that highly rated in the industry he would have been picked up by another AFL club.
