Whispers are Bing is a chance this year
People have to understand that the AFL own the GCS and a lot of powerful people within the commission have a vested financial interest in that club becoming a success. They are making it known that the current list must stay together and be successful and so they are not going to let go a player who a whole list is built around.
Bing no come here
Here no Bing
No Bing here
AFL not happy but can't do anything to stop it.

I think the problem now is that to improve our list what we need in terms of mids is Quality with a capital Q.
Swapping in say a Constable to add to our midfield for say a Bytel, Clark in terms of our best....or even Dunstan will not really help us.
We have plenty of depth to our midfield, but we only really have one gun in Steele.
So if we cannot trade/FA in a midfield gun, thin I think we need to keep churning through young mids till we find our next Steele. Could that be Constable? How much upside does he have?
This is spot on.....we need A Grade midfield talent that supplements Steele (A Grade) and the rest of our B Grade mids...
Not more of the same. Hence why Dunstan is being moved on and possibly Ross. Both can be covered with who we already have and will open up game time for Bytel, Byrnes et al....and who we potentially draft.

Agree on a GWS mid, or GC.....Constable is not for us and really isnt an upgrade that would improve us.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Fri 27 Aug 2021 10:06pmI agree but Steele was found in similar fashion. Constable still hasn't made it at AFL level, either he is flawed or doesn't suit Scott's dad's army.

We need to keep Battle he will develop into a very good player if he goes the club will get smashed on sites like this in a few years saying why did we let him go.
The only way he should go is if we get King and we should try next year come up with our own godfather deal.
What about getting crouch he is a free agent and all Australian and still only 26 the quality we need.

If we trade, let's go for a gun.
Bing obviously a target but maybe we weight til next year.
Cerra is 21, is a gun, wants to come home....why not give him a crack

Geez, I hope we are not basing out list management on whether we may get smashed on sites like this in a few years IF player X comes good. Re: Trade-Draft 2021 Discussion
Just watched the WA v SA U19 game. Its only 100 minutes of football but all of the amateur draft experts will be shuffling a lot of WA kids up there boards & the SA kids down. Jai Amiss was brilliant as a key forward, Van Rooyen & Bazzo doing well down back and WA smalls displayed so much more composure around the ball. Brown, Johnson, Chipper & Warner looked good for WA.
SA Roberts was ok in the first half and Draper got a bit of it in the last but WA had switched off. Milera-Wanganeen played ok and looks a quality wingman.
Horne-Francis hardly touched the ball, it's a huge call of people saying he is the gauranteed No 1 pick. On that game I would put 20 other players in front of him.

From BF trade thread -
'Essendope rumoured to be parting ways with Shiel... sounds like a salary dump'.
I think thats quite humorous if true, as they have out bid us on both Sheil & Caldwell and now want to off load him. Sheil is 28 yo, Parker would be a much better target as a free agent.

A conversation I could imagine might have happened in 2019:
"Simon its Gil, you know what we are trying to do on the Gold Coast, so please leave the Bing thing alone"
"But Gil Bing wants to come home"
"Dont worry Simon, we will throw him some extra bucks to make it worth his while - just dont go and try and match it"
" So Gil, what do I tell the Prez and CEO?"
Simon tell em we will increase their distribution by a couple of Mil, plus throw a few extra dollars towards RSEA and give you a few prime time slots"
"Oh and Simon , just remember you are on the AFL drip so be careful what you decide. Also you are a career AFL person, so make sure you dont do anything to put us off Side"
" And Also I will get Andrews brother Paul to have a quiet word.

Re: Trade-Draft 2021 Discussion
From todays Herald Sun cant copy link -
St Kilda can bank on Jack Billings helping drive the club’s mission to return to September next season. Billings is close to signing a four-year contract extension that will take the playmaker to 30 and remove his name from this year’s free agency list.
The biggest names from the 2013 draft headlined this year’s crop of gettable superstars – but they have all spurned rival offers.
The list of marquee midfielders who were quick to void their free agency status included Marcus Bontempelli (re-signed for four years at Western Bulldogs), Patrick Cripps (six years at Carlton), Zach Merrett (seven years at Essendon) and Josh Kelly (eight years at GWS), with Billings not far behind them.
However, Bulldogs free agent Mitch Wallis appears likely to leave the club that his father captained in 1989 in pursuit of greater opportunities after playing just six games as vice-captain this season.
Wallis, 28, has sat on a modest offer from Whitten Oval for much of the season and a fresh start is on the cards for the highly-respected clubman who took elimination final hero Cody Weightman under his wing last year.
The Saints and Billings are ironing out the finer details, such as bonus triggers, on a contract that will lock the silky half-forward in until 2025.
Billings burst out of the blocks in 2021 until a plantar fascia injury suffered in a pre-game warm-up curtailed that form.
The reliable matchwinner has played 144 games for the Saints, missing just six matches in the past five seasons.
Like many clubs, the Saints are waiting for the AFL to clarify rules governing the salary cap and list sizes before they advance their off-season plans.
The Saints currently hold picks No.9 and 46 in this year’s draft.
Coach Brett Ratten is adamant his team belongs in the top eight but underachieved this year, having won through to a semi-final in 2020.
Similarly, coach-less Carlton has already set itself a pass mark of leaping into the top eight next year.
Dual All-Australian Jack Steele, Rowan Marshall, Jade Gresham, Zak Jones and Billings are all in that sweet-spot age bracket of 24-26, while Brad Crouch and Tim Membrey are both 27.
But last year’s surge was powered by a stack of gimme goals kicked from 0-30m as Ratten’s eye-catching game plan encouraged players to target the hot spot with long and direct forward thrusts.
Rivals tried to force the Saints short this season and that tactic contributed to their potency fading, particularly in their inconsistent start to the year.
However, Ratten’s team finished the season 5-4, which included wins against finalists Sydney and the Brisbane Lions, and that improvement helped fortify confidence in what they had been working towards.
The off-season shopping list is likely to prioritise players who can gut run after some Saints found the return to 20-minute quarters challenging this year.
Some in club land also believe it would make sense for the Saints to consider recruiting Mason Cox (Collingwood), given Paddy Ryder will be 34 next season and Paul Hunter (out of contract) is every chance to join Shaun McKernan (retired) on the list of departures.
Former Magpies administrator Graeme Allan, who knows Cox, lobbed at St Kilda in 2008.

Totally agree with not wanting Cox.
Someone on BF said we are showing interest in OOC Matt Flynn from GWS, he has had his injury problems but hopefully that is behind him. He is another GWS academy player originally from Narrandera NSW.

Bing just holding onto 10th in the Suns B&F at round 20. Crazy considering how many goals he kicked and how trash they were.
