Re: Luke Parker
I don't believe St Kilda would need to use a pick. Parker can walk if he's happy with the terms & dollars offered by St Kilda.

Re: Luke Parker
"Former"??? I wish all on our list who were 29+ had a year like Parker just had. We'd be enjoying this week off waiting to see who we play in the Prelim.
He still goes OK, I'd have him on 3 year contract with a 4th on a trigger.
You are right, we need to be careful with our cap as Steele needs to be well & truly rewarded & encouraged.

May even take the pressure / spot light away from him & allow him to play a full season with us.skeptic wrote: ↑Wed 01 Sep 2021 3:06pmTouch wood Parker could go on to be the player we all hoped Hannerbery would beGhost Like wrote: ↑Wed 01 Sep 2021 3:02pm"Former"??? Re: Luke Parker
No issue offering Parker 4 years. He is a very good forward so you could easily see him playing as a forward even when his best midfield days are gone.

Re: Luke Parker
I commented that Parker was listed as 2nd best in the weekend loss to GWS - and that drew a response asking me to confirm Ross was a Great Player as well due to him being listed as 2nd best in a 2020 final loss

Re: Luke Parker
Probably but ATT we were crying out for a quick outside runner with skill & he fitted the criteria . As I have already said I didn't know his off field antics were well known to all & sundry but we picked him up anyway .

Re: Luke Parker
What's typical B.M.? You getting your nose out of joint when people don't bow to your opinion?
I actually thank you for your posts when I either agree with them or accept them as excellent posts. I voice my opinion when I think you are wrong or over the top or, in this case, taken something that had nothing to do with Ross but wanted to needle people who are no longer rating Ross highly.
If that's typical, guilty as charged.

Read Sainter Dad’s reply
It wasn’t a comparison between Ross and Parker
Parker is obviously better than Ross

Re: Luke Parker
From heraldsun.com.au
"Gold Coast has considered a bid for Sydney free agent Luke Parker but will likely pass despite his ties to coach Stewart Dew, a former Sydney assistant coach.
Parker wants a four-year contract at $700,000 or more and despite his exceptional durability missing one game in six years turns 29 in October.
The Swans have offered him a deal as modest as two seasons at $500,000 as they attempt to arrest a salary cap issue that could see them losing multiple players.
Parker would provide brilliant leadership at the Suns but would likely force one of Noah Anderson or Matt Rowell out of a midfield that also has Touk Miller and the improving Brayden Fiorini.
The salary will be too rich for the Suns, who are keener to secure key position talent in the off-season period to help Ben King.
Parker might appeal to a club like St Kilda which is in the window and would love his strong contested work and ability to go forward to kick multiple goals.
The Swans have cap issues like all clubs but their crisis is acute given the cost of living in Sydney and high-priced contracts for the likes of Lance Franklin, Isaac Heeney, Parker, Dane Rampe, Cal Mills and Tom Papley.
Franklin is due $900,000 next season on a deal that cannot be altered under AFL rules, while Heeney becomes a free agent at the end of 2022."

Re: Luke Parker
Interesting saynta. It appears the Suns know they'll have to pay out some big contracts in the coming years to keep their gun kids.
Parker is a better fit for the Suns in my opinion. That said, I'd welcome him at St Kilda if it didn't jeopardise us trying to get Bing & locking in our players for the next few years.

Re: Luke Parker
I think that the swans will have to try and match any outside offers Parker gets and that process might shake a couple of others from the tree.

Re: Luke Parker
2 years at $500k!?!?
That’s peanuts in football terms
Have to imagine that’s less than Billings, Hannebery, Ross and a plethora of others including our richer imports
Absolute bargain at that price and obviously would move up
I guess let the bidding commence

Re: Luke Parker
The issue is if you get Parker and things go right for us next year (draw, injuries etc), we could very quickly end up in the top 4 and potentially who knows from there. I think we are definitely in a potential window to win in 2023 if, once again, everything goes right for us. This season did show that at our best we can match pretty much every team in the comp.
I think Parker is worth the risk.

I know you like be contrarian to my posts
But you missed the point. I’ve even spelled it out to you.
Another poster suggested Parker was still great value as he was named second best for Sydney in there final.
I just pointed out, our whipping boy was second best in our most recent final.
I think Parker is A Grade
I would not pick him up as he is 30 next year
