I think the umpires need to stop talking to, back chatting, scolding, lecturing players during matches. Concentrate on their jobs and getting in the right positions to pay the correct decisions.

All this other rubbish seems to encourage players to talk to them. They need to distance themselves and not be noticed or heard.

That then makes this black & white, an easy decision.

Never spoke to an umpire when I was playing. Never, as there was no point in it.

There used to be a rule, maybe there still is, that only the captain was allowed to approach a maggot to speak to him.

Appears that has been watered down and Razor Ray has a lot to answer for.

We were taught, as umpires, to be incognito and facilitate the game
If our Game report said "What Umpire?" we had done our jobs.

Razer and his "Look at Me" Cohorts are one of the current problems - along with the convoluted - is it this free - is it that - what was his intent.

Is the Action Dangerous (dangerously high (not touching the shoulder), tripping, slinging) or unfairly impeding (holding, scragging, not fairly competing for a mark) the opposition - if not - play on - if so - penalty - call it a Banana Penalty as far as I am concerned. If the ball is incorrectly disposed of - another Banana Penalty - don't care if you call it throwing or dropping - just call the Pen and indicate which way - then fade into the bushes again.
