Re: Assistant Coaches
David Teague now looking for a job, would he make a good assistant coach ?
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Assistant Coaches
Didn’t Leppitsch have a 25% winning record at Brisbane?
Amazing how opinions change?!
I don’t think Leppar wants to assistant coach, otherwise he’d still be at Richmond.

As Richo has shown not all good Assistant coaches make good head coaches, yet they still can be good assistant coaches

Re: Assistant Coaches
That fact is making it harder for clubs to work out if an Assistant coach is going to cut it in the big chair, the fail list keeps growing.older saint wrote: ↑Thu 26 Aug 2021 12:45pmAs Richo has shown not all good Assistant coaches make good head coaches, yet they still can be good assistant coaches
The coaching interview process, as grueling as the media make it out to be, is clearly flawed, too many duds getting senior coaching roles.

Like many things though cannot test for some of the situations which pop up in AFL and that is why IMO you need a Senior assistant, preferably someone who has sat in the big chair beforeWayne42 wrote: ↑Thu 26 Aug 2021 12:58pmThat fact is making it harder for clubs to work out if an Assistant coach is going to cut it in the big chair, the fail list keeps growing.older saint wrote: ↑Thu 26 Aug 2021 12:45pmAs Richo has shown not all good Assistant coaches make good head coaches, yet they still can be good assistant coaches

Geez I hope they have a decent fitness guy lined up real soon.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Demetriou might be able to recommend a good Phys Edder if the club hasn't found one yet. He has an interest in that field.

Re: Assistant Coaches
I was interested to read today that Collingwood in their entire history have only had 19 senior coaches. I thought I would have a look at our numbers and we are at 46, (157% more). Without going through every club Id imagine we would have most clubs covered numbers wise.

Somebody reckons that Hammill was on radio last night doing an interview, he said he was a Blues fan from a young age...anyone hear about it?

It’s well known that Hamil was a diehard Blue fan from the beginning and his dream was to play and Captain that team, play in a premiership and wear his heroes number. He achieved most of his dreams.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 01 Sep 2021 9:15pm Somebody reckons that Hammill was on radio last night doing an interview, he said he was a Blues fan from a young age...anyone hear about it?
The falling out with Elliot was huge and his departure from the old Navy’s was shocking. He was a favourite. That’s why so many of them hated him for so long.
Reality is that he’s been at our club for essentially 20 minus a brief assistant gig elsewhere (Carlton I think).
Now that he’s got a coaching gig there... of course he’s going to play that element up

Carlton fans would be incredibly excited by a favourite son returning back into the fold after completing his 20 year apprenticeship at a club well renowned for developing flag winning coaches.skeptic wrote: ↑Wed 01 Sep 2021 10:08pmIt’s well known that Hamil was a diehard Blue fan from the beginning and his dream was to play and Captain that team, play in a premiership and wear his heroes number. Re: Assistant Coaches
How can an Assistant coach be appointed at a club before it finds it's senior coach, i don't think he can be.

Re: Assistant Coaches
It sounds strange, as anyone thinking of applying for the vacant senior job would already know who he'd prefer as assistants. Having one assistant already in place might deter some applicants.
But then again, the Blues haven't really been predictable in this saga anyway

Re: Assistant Coaches
Just a bit of an update without names ( sorry you have to respect the candidates and club ). I thought of not posting this but I want you to know the club is active in their search. It’s certainly not to tease you but to make you aware we are on the front foot.
Interviewed an assistant from a rival club but he has other irons in the fire so yet to make his decision.
Offered the job to another but he declined
As yet to interview any from the 4 teams still left but have a couple targeted.
One from an interstate club has put out an interest to join but we have yet to contact him ( which I find strange )
And no Alistair is not one of them.
And please don’t pm me, apart from the ones I trust ( they know who they are )

Doesn't sound that promising. Looks like we're fighting for scraps.tony74 wrote: ↑Wed 08 Sep 2021 8:28pm Just a bit of an update without names ( sorry you have to respect the candidates and club ). Re: Assistant Coaches
I wonder if this is a generic exercise or we are looking for specific skills/experience.
Does a request for EOI go out through the coaches assoc - how are interviews arranged.
Tony's post raises so many questions - one being didn't first two rate our list or Ratts. And if so why present for interview. Intriguing.

Re: Assistant Coaches
Actually the correct figure is 142% more.
38 is 100 % more so correct, plus another 8 which is 42% of 19
