Whats our best 22 because we didn't see it at all this year. Paton may go into the middle Coffield Sinclair as well. Geary can play either end so back or match up on a dangerous running back.

So you'd move Paton, Sinclair or Coff out of the backline/team (where they've thrived) to fit Geary in??
All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

Don't know I'm not the coach I don't know what there running and midfield ability is. What I would be doing is looking to bring these blokes into the midfield to replace Ross and Dunstan if capable.The_Dud wrote: ↑Wed 25 Aug 2021 10:23amSo you'd move Paton, Sinclair or Coff out of the backline/team (where they've thrived) to fit Geary in??

If Geary plays next season
We have not moved forward as a team.
At his best in his twenties he was a great player
34 with hardly a game in three years. He’s done!!!

Yes, tend to agree. The only logic has it tied to the coaching soft cap. Even that is weak. He could be employed in any capacity and still play for Sandy.
Are they unsure how Paton will return? Broken legs appear to be the worst, most flukey injuries to return from. If Paton is OK, Geary is a long way back in the queue, defence & forward queues.

Re: Geary - Signed on for 22
It will be interesting to see how all the list movement stuff plays out.
I don’t think Geary offers any value as a player being on the list and doubt he will play much… but based on this year, it’s clear that there were more than 1/2 dozen players in this category that wouldn’t or couldn’t contribute in a meaningful way.
McKernan, Frawley (though he had a good game), Hunter, Alabakis, Roberton and Lonie
And that’s being generous with ? Hanging over Carlisle, Hannerbery, Kent and Joyce
Maybe others I’ve missed too
If you turn over the majority of that list, realistically going into 2022 with say 3 players like that instead of 10 is a win.
And Geary would be one of those players I’d carry. I’m not one for the buzz words like leadership but whether it’s respect/culture and on and off-field, it’s clear that leadership is an area in which we’re lacking
Want to keep an experienced, hardworking leader around the club for one more year whilst turning the list over so that he can steady the ship at Sandy.
I see value there

What $ do we think he would be on?
As a senior player and current captain, you couldn't imagine he would be on less than 350K.....you have to think that it could better spent

I have to imagine he’d take a substantial cut to stay on the list.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Sat 28 Aug 2021 3:29pm What $ do we think he would be on?

Given that he has little leverage, and unlikely to stay... surely he’d be at the absolute minimum they’re will to spend
