Long is doing his role for the team and is maintaining structure whilst also setting standards and demonstrating leadership for his teammates

Why is that not good enough?

Those meaningless platitudes are a bloody free pass for your other favourites, why not Long who is playing in a position where naturally he’ll get less possessions

Most of Sebs tackles and most of Lonies tackles should not be added as tackle stats

When you bounce off someone and fall over backwards, do they still count that?

When you come in as the third man …with a gentle cuddle around an oppo player (that has already been restrained by his team mate) do they count that as a tackle?

As I said, in the previous post…IF they could execute a proper TACKLE, they wouldn’t be whipping boys

Has had multiple years and multiple chances in multiple roles to cement a spot and hasn't. Seems more intent on hurting the opposition than getting the ball at times.
Shows flashes of talent but I think best result for all is to part ways. Not sure how much interest there will be .

Like all players comes down to what the coaches expect and what has been delivered

Yes stats come into it but if you are the sub and you come on for 10 minutes or you don’t play at all, how the f*** does that help your averages? Anyhow, with regard to tackling specifically, there’s no debate who provides value to the team

Also; some players doing the give and go and kicking sideways and backwards when it’s pointless doesn’t help you win games of footy. The cunning and selfish players increase their stats because they realise coaches will compare you to others. I hate it when players do it when your team is trailing on the scoreboard

It’s deflating when you keep handing the footy back to the opposition or you waste inside 50’s with stupid or selfish shots at goal. Give me Long at 100% disposal efficiency every day of the week, compared to some players who get it more but turn it over half the time.

Ben has a lot to learn. Firstly, it’s vital to have leaders and mates at the club…that way you’ll be supported off field and most importantly, you’ll also be handed a few passes and your leads will be honoured on field.

And you can’t start saying I don’t like the stats because they don’t support my arguments

So I’m going to only consider what I believe are effective tackles?!

Tackle numbers are counted
1/ If they lead to either a HTB or a ball up
2/ If two people tackle someone, only the first tackler is rewarded with the stat

So therefore ONLY effective tackles are counted

I love the way Ben attacks the contest… I’d love him more if he got a kick or hit the scoreboard occasionally.

Kent has been CONSIDERABLY better than Long in the last month!!!

Longy has some work to do this off season. He needs to put in a big off-season and be ready to have a great season in 2022. Otherwise I fear it will be his last season with us.

10 possessions a game just doesn't cut it. Needs to find a way into games more consistently. When he's in the game he's excellent, but disappears too often.
