His draft profile is spot on.

Fair enough - Andrew Thompson, Sam Fisher, Steven Milne, all stars - but I'm not sure of they were as instantaneously successful as Cooper Sharman!

Dean Greig was pretty good in his first game.

Yes he was.

I have always believed that footy is a possession game. Get enough players in the team that can all collect 20 plus possessions in a game and you usually win.

We had that for a time in the early 90s until we lost Fletcher, Greig and Kickett and we have that now.

A full list to pick from and the saints can match it with anyone.

Sharman and Highmore are further proof our recruiting team is made up of complete imbeciles that should have been shot after recruiting the worst player ever in Wilkie.

How tall is he now? I've seen him listed anywhere between 190cm and 196cm!

Looks like they were right. That’s exactly how you would describe him at AFL level

Watched the replay last night and GEE does this kid have a look of confindence and aroncance and struts around like he's a 200 game premiership player. I Like.

Who knows what he will turn into but the early signs are exciting.

The only thing and I'm being very picky but he does lose his feet a lot. Hopefully a full AFL pre season helps that.

Yes he kicked 5 goals 5 for us in his first game. But that was probably his undoing as the club then tried to make him into a key forward which he never was, even though he he was tall.

In SA he mainly played as a ruck rover and that was his preferred role.

I can only recall one game where we actually played him his preferred position of ruck rover, and that was for only half a game. I think it was against Melbourne where he racked up a lazy 28 disposals. Despite that they never played him in that position again.

I saw a post where someone likened him to a young Jack Riewoldt and another who said he resembled Tony Modra.

You don’t want to put pressure of the kid like we’re expecting some sort of Messiah, but I saw shades of Matthew Lloyd. Something about his judgement of the ball in flight.

Any case, it is very, very early days and a long way before he’s a proven AFL player even.

But if he works out as a KPF, it’s exciting as it will spell the end of long bombs to Max King as our approach to scoring.

Too short SD, we desperately need another tall. Desperately.

Preseason, weights and hopefully absolutely no "coaching" him on how to lead.
He reminds me of an old fashioned player who just knows when to go and how to keep it simple.
The goal assist in the first quarter yesterday when he paused and chipped it to Higgins just tells me he knows what he's doing.

I disagree - I think too tall is more of a problem - it discourages kicking to advantage - Sharman seems to be able to make position well - so I would love to see us target King - but if he cannot get off the chain look for Sharman - with Members playing taller than he is with his vertical leap.

I think it gives more flexibility - and can exploit tall backs - but also this set up would be VERY mobile

Don't forget we'll most likely have a resting Ryder/Marshall down there too.

But how many did the opposing team get due to his looseness and playing for frees?

Not sure they keep those stats, but I'm confident it's less than 574 goals over 275 games.

If he was playing for frees he was pretty bad at it. Compare his figures to Rioli, Betts or any other small forward and you will see the umpires weren’t fans.

Remember the Collingwood game when he got pinned costing us the game just before the siren in the goalsquare. Replays of course showed he was no where near the Collingwood defender. Think he got pinned 6 times that night.

I’m coming around to this way of thinking. Aerially that is a potentially a strong line up, particularly if you factor in a resting ruckman.

I had been thinking along the lines of us needing another power forward. Like Marshall playing most of the time forward.

However, If Sharman can give us another viable target, despite not being what you would describe as a power forward, that might not be necessary.

But very early days yet
