Assistant Coaches
Hamill - Defence
Skrobalak- Forward
Lade - Midfield
Should all go IMO
Not that it’ll make all the difference, or much difference it will might make some?
What are the options
Sacked coaches
Harves?
Dew?
Teague?
Retired Players
Burgoyne?
Experienced assistants

Re: Assistant Coaches
No to Harvey
Teague be interesting think he’s been hard done by..
Dew will stay at GC
Will be fascinating but all 3 now must go
How the feck does Danny Secton hang on?
Actually who else at Hawks/Tigers could we pry loose????
Ideally they come from successful clubs/programs
Melbourne?? Rip off any IP we can get our hands on would be my mantra

Re: Assistant Coaches
I think Lade might be a gonna.
I’ve been watching the body language between Ratten & Lade on TV lately. Definitely appeared frosty at times over the last 3 matches, when I first noticed it.
Last week there was one occasion when an error was made on the field. Ratten glared at Lade Who was sitting beside him in the coaches box & asked him a question. Lade just ignored him. The look on Ratten’s face was non-too-pleasing.
Rarely over the past few weeks do you see them near each other in huddles etc. when the images come up in TV
Today in the last few seconds of the game, in the coaches box Ratten stood up. was packing his clipboard into his backpack, the siren went. He didn’t shake hand with Lade, he did with two others in the box, before the camera panned off the box.
In the rooms after the game, you could see some other assistants talking with players and glimpses of Ratten, no Lade unless he was off camera, not mingling with players who were enjoying their final win for the season.

Re: Assistant Coaches
I noticed quite a lot of player attention/hugs around Hamill. I wonder if he could be off to Carlton next year ????

Re: Assistant Coaches
Richmond supporters never rated Lade and were happy when he left.
Skrobalak was out of his depth from day one.
Hamill seems to have a great relationship with the players, so would like to see him stay if he choses.
Promote Roughead to forwards coach and bring in a couple of others like Leppitsch, Xav Clarke, Yze or Harvey. Then get a specialist part time ruck coach.

Re: Assistant Coaches
I made that point about Skrobalak when he was appointed and typically got lambasted

Re: Assistant Coaches
I pointed out Skrobo was a part time ruck coach who played Ammos
What expertise did he have as a professional forward line coach?!

Re: Assistant Coaches
From saints.com.au
"With a slew of coaching experience to his name at a multitude of levels, Adam Skrobalak will be bringing his expertise to St Kilda in 2020 as Senior Assistant Coach (Midfield and Contest).
Following his decorated amateur football career, Skrobalak turned his eye to coaching in 2004 as an assistant coach at Bacchus Marsh.
From there, he held senior coach positions at Torquay and East Geelong, before moving to VFL powerhouse Port Melbourne as an assistant coach in 2012.
After two seasons at the Western Jets and a season at Frankston Dolphins (2018), Skrobalak moved to the Saints in 2015.
Originally part-time, Skrobalak stepped up his involvement through a full-time development role with St Kilda in 2019, before becoming Senior Assistant Coach for the Saints’ on-ball brigade."

Re: Assistant Coaches
It's time for Brett Ratten to choose who he wants to have alongside him, as most successful coaches have done over the years. Apart from Jordan Roughead he may well see who is available from the Hawthorn panels in recent years, would be great to continue on the mission to instil a culture of success at St Kilda.
The other bloke I'd chase really hard is Choco Williams who has been very instrumental in the rise of the Demons this year, reckon he'd work very well with Ratts and may well savour the biggest challenge in the AFL that is St Kilda FC.

"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

Re: Assistant Coaches
From Bigfooty ITK
Our improved defensive work nothing to with Hamil - it’s Rath
Apparently Ratten/Hamil relationship broken and Ratts doesn’t listen to what Hamil offers up
He’s gone I’d say
Hope Lade too - Tiger fans I know reckon they improved when he left

Re: Assistant Coaches
I’ll put up with a lot of criticism of our club on this forum but some of the vitriol and untruths written about our assistants are not on.
No.1. Often the players who have not excelled at the highest level are often the best tacticians ( they have had to use every single thing they can find to play the game at any level)
No.2 . Often the elite players are the worst coaches ( basically because everything came naturally to them as players)
No.3. Unless you have been to training multiple times don’t believe what the website tells you on each coaches role, most of you are way off
No.4. The assistant coaches some of you are potting have been with the club for quite a few years ( you don’t last long if you haven’t got the goods ) eg. Brereton, Dixon, Slater
No.5. There will be movement among the coaches but you know what most of them will get a gig somewhere else so they can’t be all bad ( every club needs new blood )
No. 6. Don’t bag them, they work damn damn hard ( and no I’m not one of them ) but I do watch them.

Don’t remember the specific post but I’d wager that rather than just express your opinion… you pbly cracked it at everyone that wasn’t as outraged as you are.

Re: Assistant Coaches
Hammil and Rath both do parts of the defensive work. I won’t comment on their employment, you’ll know soon enough. Mc.Glynn is mainly in charge of clearance
