Re: Geary - Signed on for 22
But at his age, he lacks the ability to be best 22.
You don’t contract someone to ‘lead’ at training!
His time was well and truly up
Poor call

Re: Geary - Signed on for 22
Yep really ordinary call
It tells me this club is not serious and able to make the hard calls to be successful
Amateur hour
Geary has been VERY well looked after
He’s an injury prone GOP but I bet Ratts won’t leave him at Sandy....that would’ve been part of the negotiations
Which means a kid has to sit out
FFS look at the rejuvenation kids have brought to us in a shyte season ??
We are not winning the flag in 22 but I’d be hoping to be starting to seriously chslkeufrom 23 IF we can pump some games into these kids abs draft smart
But no....wasted spot on our list for Geary leadership FFS just get out of the way abs let Steele make his own mark
It reeks of matey mates rates
“Yeah….nah””

Re: Geary - Signed on for 22
Well I for one am prepared to accept the List Manager's opinion far more than those that think they know better without any (or very little) inside knowledge of what situations/circumstances/roles are at play.
I've got no inside knowledge on this matter but I would think that with the well publicized shortage of 'soft cap space' for the foreseeable future, an opportunity to keep an extra 'óff-field leader' in the place might be worth a 'playing list spot'.
None of us know what the value of the contract is - maybe it's 100-250k?
But we're quick to jump in and condemn the decision because it doesn't fit in with our own personal view of what should happen.

That's true. But none of us, bar a couple perhaps, have any inside info and we cast forth our opinions without hesitation, not just about Geary. If not knowing the true circumstances of club decisions was a reason to not post, then we might as well shut the forum down.Mr Magic wrote: ↑Sat 21 Aug 2021 3:38pm Well I for one am prepared to accept the List Manager's opinion far more than those that think they know better without any (or very little) inside knowledge of what situations/circumstances/roles are at play.

Most of us are happy to give our opinion, knowing we have no idea if it's based on real facts or not.
A few of us seemingly need to have our opinions revered and accepted as gospel.

Big fan of Gears.
A bit older now, and has had a few injuries which have curtailed his input on field, but I think he still has some thing to offer.
Maybe a Phil Stevens role. Mentor the young blokes coming through

Re: Geary - Signed on for 22
This thread was created after it was confirmed J.Geary had signed on Terry.
Not sure what it has to do with Ego, I was just reporting the new and commenting on it.
Can merge them, doesn’t bother me, when I created the thread, the other thread completely slipped my mind.
I do think it is news that deserves discussion

WTAF, this is exactly why we are such a mediocre club.
The good clubs move them on when they need too, where as we just keep extending their contracts and clogging up our list because they are damn good blokes.

Just all assumptions and basically garbage. Yeah I will sign but I’m not playing at Sandy. Like seriously do you honestly believe that. Geary gets another year as Geary is best 22 when he’s fit and has proven that.

Re: Geary - Signed on for 22
If Geary is best 22 then we may as well save everyone the trouble and just forfeit next season right now.

The reasoning of fans to create (and the mods to allow) a second hate Geary thread in one week is beyond me

Re: Geary - Signed on for 22
I don’t think there’s a StK supporter who ‘hates’ Geary
At his best he was an outstanding small defender
Finished top 5 in the B&F on 4 occasions (runner up once)
Top notch attitude, great leader!
At 34 next season and a few years out of the team
And Webster, Paton, Sinclair, Connolly on the list
Have NO idea where he fits in?!

Re: Geary - Signed on for 22
List the best 22 then. You might find it tricky seeing as you rate about 30 of our players in there.
Forwards:
King
Membrey
Sharman
Higgins
Butler
Gresh
Midfield:
Ryder
Steele
Jones
Crouch
Hill
Hannerbry
Backs:
Howard
Wilkie
Highmore
Sinclair
Clark
Paton
Bench:
Marshall
Byrnes
Webster
Bytel
Emergency:
Coffield
Battle
Long
DMac
Then there’s young blokes like Connolly, Clav, Allison and whoever we draft this off-season.
It’s also not counting Billings, Dunstan or Ross, all who would play ahead of Geary.
So tell us, who’s he play in front of? He might not actually be best 30.

Re: Geary - Signed on for 22
Not my decision but anyway he’s played every time he’s available. He’s also been offered another year. He may be signed as depth maybe they have a role for him. Or just maybe he’s part of our best 22.The_Dud wrote: ↑Sun 22 Aug 2021 3:22pmList the best 22 then. You might find it tricky seeing as you rate about 30 of our players in there.
