Re: Dunston dropped
Saw Ratts presser where he said Bytel would play then saw Dunstan listed 8th on the extended bench.
Plain as day following night.

Re: Dunstan dropped
His game against Geelong was poor but he wasn't on his Pat Malone there. Byrnes needs a rest.older saint wrote: ↑Fri 20 Aug 2021 6:18pm No use having trade value blow out a knee or shoulder in a meaningless game.

There is no trade value. He can just walk if he wantsolder saint wrote: ↑Fri 20 Aug 2021 6:18pm No use having trade value blow out a knee or shoulder in a meaningless game.

Re: Dunstan dropped
I’d say he has told them he wants out. No point giving him another game.

Re: Dunstan dropped
Disappointed with how this has all appeared to play out
We’ve stuck with him through thick and thin, given him multiple opportunities even though it took like 7 years for him to get his fitness up to scratch…
Then he finally gets to the level necessary, starts playing decent football and walks out
Will be glad to be done with this sorry saga

Re: Dunstan dropped
Luke Dunstan almost certainly played his last game for the Saints.
After being in and out of the best 22, mostly out, this year he wanted to make a point.
That he was good enough to make it in the AFL. And he's right. He is. He proved it this year.
I feel the same way about Dunstan that I did about Blake Acres. I would prefer him to stay but I am not too sad he's going.
Dunstan is a good inside mid but he is not a champion. There are some serious shortcomings in his game that I can't see being rectified when he moves to another club.
In other words, we've seen the best of him and it's unlikely to get any better. While at times he was a significant contributor he was never a star.
Besides as an unrestricted free agent, he's entitled to do what he likes.
So, on that note I thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best.

Re: Dunstan dropped
I kind of agree Skeptic but is he really at the level necessary? I hope another club thinks so but when you've a midfield of Steele, Crouch, Ross, Bytel and add a Hannebery with a year left, I'm convinced his level is not what we really need to improve.

Re: Dunstan dropped
It's also quite feasible that Dunstan has been dropped simply because his form has dropped off.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Dunstan dropped
Yep, what I posted, in a different thread. His form against Geelong wasn't crash hot but he wasn't alone there. Byrnes has been poor for a few weeks.

Re: Dunstan dropped
He’s gone probably already agreed to terms elsewhere and informed the club.

Gold Coast. Perfect spot for him. Plenty of slippery dewy games that he excels in.

Crows. Why would Carlton risk losing Cerra when they've got to pay decent coin to keep their other Top 10s.

Re: Dunstan dropped
Yeah I think he has said I'm gone next year & he was ordinary last week but has been very solid in most games he's played before that . Disappointed it's come to this but not a lot of point playing a player that has already moved on might as well give Bytel a chance to show what he can do.

Re: Dunstan dropped
If we want him we would offer him a contract attractive enough to stay. We don’t want to as we don’t need him. It’s a meh from me

Seems the Saints think along the same lines.
