Will Jack Lonie be getting a farewell game?

How about that, Blake's 100th. What symbolism. Not sure of what though.
Any chance he will play on Brad?

Re: Team v Dockers
Why is Jack Lonie so despised?
At times handy AFL small forward, absolute dominant VFL player
At the end of the day, if his career is over
He’s played 87 AFL games
Averaged 12ppg
0.9 goals
2.6 tackles
And had several good games.
Obviously no star, but people on here carry on like he can’t play footy.
I’d like to know how many posters have kicked 4 in an AFL game?!

Re: Team v Dockers
He's not despised its just that he's not AFL level. He would probably be a lot better at the Bulldogs.B.M wrote: ↑Thu 19 Aug 2021 7:49pm Why is Jack Lonie so despised?

Re: Team v Dockers
I don't despise Lonie & has had some good games but IMO not consistent enough to cement a regular place in the team . Higgins & Butler have more to offer & even with a horrendous injury list is struggling to get a game . He has been given plenty of opportunities & I know starvation corner is a bloody hard gig but I doubt he will get a contract extension next year.

The vitriol he receives on here suggests otherwise
Not hard to work out favs equally not hard to work out whipping boys!!!
Carlisle, Long, Battle, Dunstan - Favs
Players who have done little but are rated
Ross, Lonie, Billings, Kent
Some of the Whipping boys

Lonie is the most selfish player I’ve seen play at StKilda.

Re: Team v Dockers
the back 6 only has two talls, Howard and Wilkie.
And Wilkie isn't really a tall per se, he's listed as 191 cm.
About 3 cm taller than Membrey.
How tall is Clavarino? 197 apparently
Clav will surely be in the 22

His inconsistency is his Achilles Heel. Lonie was given plenty of opportunity to cement his place in our best 22.B.M wrote: ↑Thu 19 Aug 2021 7:49pm Why is Jack Lonie so despised?

Not sure of his contract status. I think he is on a year's contract. Can't see him at the Saints in 2022.

Re: Team v Dockers
Lonie is not built for the rough and tumble of AFL footy.
Sure he can dominate in the lower league, but it's a huge jump to AFL seniors.
I think he has a big heart, and he often tries his hardest, but his output cannot cut it in AFL where he is about the size of Caleb Daniels yet is only suited to the small forward crumbing role, where his lack of size and strength are easily exploited by every single defender in the league, as they are all at least 20kgs heavier than him.
He is like a 12 year old boy playing basketball at a local park with adults.
I'm not having a go at him, just pointing out the obvious

Taberner limping around at training apparently for Freo. Training with a heavily strapped calf according to reports.
Be a big loss for the Dockers if he doesn't play.

Re: Team v Dockers
Lonie has had some handy games and certainly been courageous way beyond his stature.
Trouble is that when you're that small, you need to be elite in some department. Speed, kicking, stamina, one touch gathers etc ....he is adequate but not elite in all of those areas. So, he just doesn't quite make the cut as a small forward.
He is unfortunately no Schneider or Milne, which we had hoped he might be when he first arrived

Re: Team v Dockers
The challenge for Lonie is his physical attributes aren’t really in line with his style.
He plays the traditional crumbing style… presents and reads the ball off the pack, aims to capitalise of opportunities and pressure.
Now he has some qualities.
He reads the play well
Can’t fault his or work rate or endeavour
Is reasonably smart
The negatives however are damning
1. He’s actually not that fast - troubles to breakaway
2. His skills aren’t that great… for a player reliant on making the most of limited opportunities he misses far to many of them. If you’re gonna play Milne’esk… need to finish like Milne
3. He’s still too light. He chases and tackles but is easily easily pushed off so it doesn’t work
I like the kid and am happy he got a sustained shot at it and for a while, he looked like going up a level but he hasn’t.
Clearly not going to make it and he’s had his time

Re: Team v Dockers
i have tried so hard to muster some interest in this game....i'm going fishing
the loss to Carlton has scarred me deeply .. how can a team show so much and then so little when it counts...got me f%$%ed
so dirty on them for that...commitment in earlier games was also abysmal ....nup if they don't show interest when it counts..why should I show interest in times like this ????

Not sure of his contract status. I think he is on a year's contract. Can't see him at the Saints in 2022.
Will complete year 7 so he is an unrestricted free agent but some club has to be willing to offer him a contract.
Either way I can't see St Kilda making him an offer.
