Re: Hickey, Bruce and Hind
There it is again, a good post ruined by the last sentence, another snide remark. You can’t help yourself can you?B.M wrote: ↑Sun 08 Aug 2021 9:05pm Ghost
I know people who have played for 20 years and are single figures and can’t pitch.
Pitching and chipping action can be taught (as I alluded to)
Distance control cannot be taught - that is straight from the head coach at MGA.
But hey
You’d know better than him
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Hickey, Bruce and Hind
So your initial post about distance control sounds like your opinion, you get challenged on it and now it becomes the opinion of a qualified person. Unusual for you to defer an opinion so I suspect you already know you're wrong.
Was it the head coach or the head waiter who told you that?
My experience says it can be taught. YouTube is littered with lessons on distance control. The world's best hire coaches to assist them with it. If it could not be taught why would anyone pay for a golf lesson? Driving, irons, chipping, putting...all require distance control and an understanding of loft and practice.

Re: Hickey, Bruce and Hind
That’s horrible news for Bruce, desperately unlucky in the last 10 seconds of the game.
Hopefully we don’t see any classless posts on here hanging sh*t on him.

Yep, bad luck for the man. Obviously worked his arse off to be ready for this season, deserved to play in the upcoming final series. I wish him the best in his recovery.

Rotten luck. So is the injury to King in a crucial point in our season, but then we have been having rotten luck with injuries even before the season started.

Tough luck for Bruce, given the Dogs are likely to go deep into the finals.

Hopefully for Bruce the initial diagnosis is incorrect and the injury is something other than an ACL tear.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Desperately unlucky - all the best Josh if you're reading this.
48 goals this year too. Last 8 seconds of the game.
All the best for your full recovery.

Re: Hickey, Bruce and Hind
B.M.,
Here's something to work on during lockdown. This Justin Rose bloke is no head of MGA (good thing you didn't mention the poor bloke's name) but seems to have a handle on distance control and how us mortals can improve.
https://www.golfdigest.com/story/justin ... our-wedges
P.S.: Ask your mate at MGA why they have pins set at different distances on the range and chipping green if they can't teach distance control.
Happy hitting. Oh, the answer is yes, I'd rather learn from Ryder than Hunter.

Re: Hickey, Bruce and Hind
Just a lazy 30 touches (21 kicks) at 83% and a goal for Hind…
But lucky we have Hill instead!

In a 11 goal hiding of GC.
Chipped the ball 15 meters across HB at least 20 times.

Hill would be our highest paid player too. Shocking that could be the case. Regardless of form, hill should never be your highest paid player

Most of our moneyball trades have been fair to good.
The big ticket items on the other hand....
and people on here paint a second rounder for Billings as a victory for us, in which universe is Hill worth a skerrick more than Billings?

So we could have had Hind, Acres, a first and a second round draft pick…
But instead we have Hill…
Great list management…

Hill and Hannebery have set a new record for recruiting incompetence.
Easily surpassing Ball/Lovett and Stewart/Barrot.
Hind Bruce Hickey and Acres just the cherry on the cake!

Re: Hickey, Bruce and Hind
Said it was way too much then (as many did), and the subsequent 2 seasons have only confirmed it
Highest paid player at the club, couldn’t crack the top 10 in the B&F last year. Can he crack it this year in a season where so many other players have missed games while he’s played them all?

Re: Hickey, Bruce and Hind
Justin Rose?
Professional Golf Coach??
Or is he just sharing how he controls distance?? As a pro golfer???
Will be different for each individual. Some fly their wedges high, some low. Some have a steeper angle of attack.
Using the clock face example, and let say a 9 to 9 with a lob wedge gets you 60m
What if you are 65m out from pin high
Then you have to go a touch further. How far???
That’s going to be a feel thing.
I know the distance I hit my three wedges with a full and three quarter swing and pitching.
But pitching 33 metres to hole, compared to 29 metres
Again is an innate feel. No different to a putt

Re: Hickey, Bruce and Hind
Hill was a good player & still has a role that will make us a better team but paid way overs for him similar to Haneberry but at least Hill is on the park most of the time can't say the same of Dan .2 players on a lot of money stretching our salary cap for little reward is hurting us big time . I know Dan is taking a pay cut next year to make the deal seem sweeter but IMO time to cut your losses & move forward

Hannebery showed he’s still got plenty to offer yesterday.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Sun 15 Aug 2021 10:42pm Hill was a good player & still has a role that will make us a better team but paid way overs for him similar to Haneberry but at least Hill is on the park most of the time can't say the same of Dan .2 players on a lot of money stretching our salary cap for little reward is hurting us big time . 6 days to reply and that's all you've got? Sounds contrived to me, a touch face saving for a stupid claim.B.M wrote: ↑Sun 15 Aug 2021 10:33pm Justin Rose?

What's the name of the bloke at MGA that can't teach distance control? Put it out there because I don't want to give him money or send anyone to him. Justin Rose plus many many others believe distance control for pitching can be taught. Only you & a soon to be fired golf academy coach believe otherwise. Name him B.M., he'll thank you for the PR.
Who is Justin Rose? What would he know?
Good to see you rate coaches when you need to. Apparently even the dud ones, as in this case. What's his name again?
You said distance control cannot be taught. It can. What cannot be taught in a single golf lesson is what very very good golfers can do, that takes practice & from practice comes feel & what pitching style works from certain lies & using different, practiced methods. You can only practice what you've been taught if you expect to be any good.

Re: Hickey, Bruce and Hind
It's absolutely pointless comparing the Hind who played for us and the Hind that plays for the Drug Cheats.
Hind was never looked at as a running half back for us and if he was still on our list would be used as a back up small forward still.
We haven't lost anything with him going to the Druggies because he would have never had the opportunity to play in the backline, where he is at the moment as Sinclair, Hill and Clark all have the spot over him.

Re: Hickey, Bruce and Hind
This is spot on. What's also spot on is that this thread was not started last season on the back of Hickey & Bruce's seasons. If memory serves me correct, we still had Hind so IluvHarvey is correct.IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Mon 16 Aug 2021 7:05pmIt's absolutely pointless comparing the Hind who played for us and the Hind that plays for the Drug Cheats.

We are not lacking for what Hind can do, we are simply over paying for his abilities.
