Better team Sydney? Lol. Without the umpires being so awful the Saints win by two goals.

Gelong are not even a good team. And Hawkins is one of the worst 3 time premiership winner I have seen. For a "star".

The two misses by King and Sharman were costly as was the horrible forward entry by Dunstan.

I hope the Hawkins slam of Joyce’s head into the turf gets looked at. With your second cousin umpiring why would it get looked at, at the time.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Cats Round 22 2021
They interviewed the little princess Dangerfield on the ground after the siren and he let slip how “easy” it was taking that mark to kick the winning goal
He tried to cover up and say that his team mates made it easy, but what he was really thinking was that he knew he wouldn’t get much of a contest against Seb Ross, and the fact that none of the other Saints players wanted it as much as he did was what made it ‘easy’

I've said it before and will say it again. Look at the hurt and pain in Steele after the loss and then look at Hill. He happily congratulates the opposition and jokes and smiles away.
Hill is only there for the money, he's had his premiership success. He doesn't bleed for the red, white and black.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Cats Round 22 2021
Well, I got to say , we played well and showed alot at times.
Dangerfield carried them over the line by pure will.
Sharman is such an exciting young player....get a Pre season into him.
Sinclair serious gun
Joyce has developed into a KPD option....he is much better and stronger now
Higgins is very good, great pick up.
As bad as the year has been, we have found 5 or 6 players....

Indeed. Why? If they give him another contract ....surely not. Kent Schment.I love the saints! wrote: ↑Sat 14 Aug 2021 8:12pm Why Kent plays and not Long or Bytel. Well, interesting. And I think if Highmore were fit, we win.

Geelong would never have signed Hannebery and Hill on the $$ and long contracts we did. Then again, Geelong would not allow someone like Lethlean to take control of their club like St Kilda have.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Cats Round 22 2021
All in all good effort & I don't usually bag out umpires but they were gifted a few goals from questionable decisions but bottom line don't play injured players (obviously Max was not over his injury) & get rid of dead wood (Kent not up to it ). Positive signs & if we can recruit some class mid fielders ,get some injured players back next year should be something to look forward to however I thought the same thing last year almost ground hog day . We were pretty good today just not good enough.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Cats Round 22 2021
They had more contested marks than us
More contested possessions than us (not to mention all the uncontested control of the footy)
They out tackled us
They had more inside 50’s than us
They had 41 clearances to our 30
Their disposal efficiency was 78% and ours was 72%
But yeah…the umpires cost us…seriously
Yes they got 3 more frees than us!! Oh sorry….we did beat them on one stat
We had more clangers than they did it

Re: Match Thread Saints v Cats Round 22 2021
Exactly. We have no time or respect for this insipid administrator. He's been a cancer to our club with his decision making. How would the young blokes and new talent feel having the pathetic or zero output of Hill and Hannebery, who happen to be two of the highest paid players at the club? Not a good culture going forward.Scollop wrote: ↑Sat 14 Aug 2021 8:26pmAnd neither does Lethleansaintkid wrote: ↑Sat 14 Aug 2021 8:24pm I've said it before and will say it again. At least Geelong's highest paid players are on the park, lead the way and contribute in a big way to their wins.
Herein lies a big issue /flaw with our club going forward unfortunately.

Totally agreeSydneySainter wrote: ↑Sat 14 Aug 2021 8:13pm Just a better team and when the game was there to be won, they won it.
One thing for sure, midfield too slow. At least one needs to go.
Our outside pace is treacle
Jones like a headless chook at times lacks composure
We badly need an injection of class
Imo Bytels disposal already better than Toss and Dunstan he doesn’t get enough of it yet but is a class above VFL surely you have to play him??????
We can’t keep playing the same guys and whinge we are t getting better you have to develop and plan to get better it doesn’t just happen
“Yeah….nah””

Re: Match Thread Saints v Cats Round 22 2021
I think we’ve shown enough times this year that we’re good enough to match it with the best, the issue is too many down games from too many players too often, need to fix that up for next year.
All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Cats Round 22 2021
Good effort for nearly 4 quarters, the 3rd quarter lacked a bit of energy for small patches and kind of looked like we were unfurling the white flag there for a moment. I was half expecting us to not show up in the 4th but was happy how it played out.
Question: Hannebery had an ok first game back but looked to get real busy in the last, was it his leadership that helped keep the energy up in the last?
