He's already 21 years old. At 193cm and 83kg he's a good size but needs about 5kg of muscle to give him an AFL body. He's not key position size. He's built like Scott Pendlebury. I think that weight gain could be achieved over the next 8 months now that he's in the AFL system. Seems pretty agile. Let's hope he can become a Jack Gunston type.

It's interesting that he's considered not Key Position size because he is the same height as Sydney's CHB, Tom McCartin and 4 cms taller than Sydney's Full Back, Dane Rampe.

He's also the same height as James Frawley, who is a Key Position player.

Let’s hope he takes advantage of the opportunity and is diligent with his training and gym work and let’s hope he’s smart enough NOT to think McDonalds is ok as a hunger buster.

Not saying he does. I don’t know him, but I do know that many players think it’s ok to eat that crap when you’re a professional athlete.

I heard Charlie Cameron talk about what he eats and he stated outright that his go to meals are McDonalds and KFC. It’s called junk food for a reason.

Yes apart from their Hunter brain fade where you just have to wonder WTF were they thinking.

Some like Robbie Young did not pan out, though he was worth a go. Logan Austin looked ok, but did not go on with it.


Now one is newer going to nail every pick, but so far SA is proving an excellent path for us to pick up good talent at discounted prices.


Only 2 games with Sharman, but so far so good for as above he just looks to be a natural forward. He obviously reads the play well and knows when and where to move.

He looks to be a good and clean mark with good mobility.

At 192cm he is a good height to compliment the 202 cm King, 201 cm Marshall and 190 cm Membrey.

Yep. I am amazed he is doing so well as he is.

I thought his progress would be similar to Jack Mayo.

6 games for Woodville 2nds for 15 goals and 3 games for 3 goals for Woodville 1sts and yet Sharman looks comfortable at AFL level in same year. Woodville must have a seriously strong team.

It's great, isn't it ,that because of so many injuries Sharman, Highmore, Connolly, Clavarino, Bytel, Byrnes, etc get a few consecutive games.

And as a bonus, all of them have played well or shown glimpses.

I think Connolly will replace Billings eventually(QB). Highmore has Carlisle's spot. Bytel will replace Dunstan. And Sharman will get a regular spot forward.

Even when the ball is kicked to the most disadvantageous position for him - he still made it work.

Seems to have natural knack for using the best angles to attack the ball. A few contests in the game where he got to the ball first by attacking it on a more efficient angle. Maybe it's agility too, that he can pivot and change the angles. It's where he has a big advantage over Battle who seems to struggle changing direction.
Has good hands and a nice spring. Seems to finish well also.
His highlight reel showed some nice field kicking to team mate's advantage. His kick to Higgins in the game was well weighted (many in our team would have blown that kick).
Great pick up so far, some more strength over summer and could be very handy

Yes this disappointing year, due to injuries and poor lapses of form and effort, may be a blessing in disguise.

It has given the club the opportunity to look at new players who may never have the a chance to prove themselves (especially with little VFL) and also to renew the
career of DMac.

The Sherminator looks good. Skinny but holds his ground. Doesnt appear to have the tank for the midfield but looks comfortable in his first couple of outings. Lots of room for improvement which I believe are in his abilities to grow into.

True. Tom Hawkins has previously said that up until 2006 - he really struggled with home sickness and would resolve it by binge eating Maccas. Our own Adam Schneider talked about the same thing with KFC when he was drafted by Sydney.

It's quick, it's easy, it's accessible and money isn't that much of an issue.

The flipside is that I know of a couple of young KPP players who've been put on burgers, schitznel rolls and steak sandwich diets to try and slam on weight.

I am on record with my opinion on Membrey, not a huge fan for the 3rd forward role at the elite level.
I saw the 3rd forward role as a half weakness as Membrey is a decent player but I want more and this kid could be the answer.

We may have nailed another good player.
If only we could be as good with top 10 draft picks.
