Yes they were, both of them.B.M wrote: ↑Sun 08 Aug 2021 1:03am Bytel is too slow and doesn’t have the running capacity to play on the wing
Seb and McKenzie are playing wing because of the ground the can cover
BTW
A typical game from a wingman is 20-25 possessions
Seb had 19
DMac had 20
Seb was less effective but both were serviceable

Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
Seb is playing a very different role as to what he’s used to
A wingman has a very specific role in modern footy, and it’s whether you perform that role. Cannot just go kick chasing.
Must hold structure do a lot of fat side running, often unrewarded
And importantly get back and support the defence.
Seb was inconsistent with the ball, coughed it up two or three times under pressure. But also had two direct goal assists
And one of his tackles led to a Higgins goal directly.
Wasn’t a great game from him, probably 5/10 but he wasn’t poor.
McKenzie was very good 7/10
Both are now being played on the wing given their running power
Hill and Sinclair being utilised off HB due to their kicking ability and ball carrying capacity

Watch the game or look at the stats. Ross had no goal assists.
You just made it up to support your argument.

Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
After advocating for his dismissal from the club I'm now back on board with Daniel McKenzie as well, which goes to prove once more that he, like many players on the St Kilda list, has taken an eternity to improve and become a good player. Maybe the same goes for Darragh Joyce and Oscar Clavarino??
I especially like his fearless attack on the ball, he is one of the few (Zak Jones and Ben Long as well) who will run through a brick wall to get possession.

I didn’t look at the stats and don’t need to
Just know that two of his passes led to StK goals
And his tackle led to another
You see, I don’t have a bias against him and just see the negative things he does
There are people on here who actually can’t bring themselves to give him any credit. Even though he has been a very good player for a long time in a stk jumper. One of only a few players in the last decade to make the AA squad. Captain and win B&Fs
Yes he played during a lean period, but was that his fault was it?
Because from where I sat, he (along with Jack Steven) were our only two consistently good players.

Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
Dunstan has been good since returning to the side
Was not quite as good vs Carlton
Horrible and well beaten for three quarters vs Sydney but fought back well in the last and helped get the team across the line.
His kicking was quite poor at times though.
Dunstan is not nearly as good a footballer as Ross
And their careers to date would indicate that fact

Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
I am thrilled with Dan McK's form as had wrongly put a line through him too.
I did this not for his endeavour, pace, or bravery, but for his inconsistent kicking and brain fades.
He has not looked back since having been moved to the wing.
The best thing about Dan is that he absolutely bleeds for the club. His excitement after every goal and manic fearlessness shows that.
One could hope he improves further in '22 and goes on to play in successful St Kilda finals teams as he shows, IMO, that he could handle finals type pressure.

That’s a flat out lie. Also down from the three you claimed at half time.
Tell me which goals and I’ll provide the videos.

I count the tackle that led to the Higgins goal an assist
I also count two i50s that led to goals as goal assists
Watch the replay.
And take SOME notice

Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
So not a lie. You just define goal assists differently to the rest of the world.
I’ll keep that in mind for future reference.
How many games have we won this year? I just want to know your definition of win.

Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
By the way, even with your expanded definition, I’m struggling to find the other 2 “assists”.

Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
Ross was involved in 4 goals but not the last link that led to a goal. Steele in 2nd, King in 3rd, and Membrey and Kent in 4th.
So, technically not goal assists, but played an important part of the goal, so you are probably correct imo.

Some posters can't accept that they were dead wrong about Seb and have been trying to bring him down with negative adverse comments ever since.
f****** disgraceful IMHFO.
Thankfully the club does not hold such outrageous disloyal views and appreciate his yearly input into the team .

Sinclair has had a break out year, but McKenzie would get my vote for the most improved player on the list. Listening to his recent media he says Ratts has had him working on the offensive side of his game, which is pleasing to hear after he being Cho'd for far too long.

Didn’t McKenzie have a good year in 2018
Finished 10th in the B&F in 13 games
He is not the complete dud many made him out to be… apparently Richo extended his contract and it was ludicrous?!
Good to see some tunes have changed

Are you saying you could just watch a game and tell who played well and who didn’t without a stats chart?
What a novel concept.

Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
Given this review which highlights his pace and aggression should they give McKenzie a spell in midfield and stoppages, especially when Jones is having a rest??
