Daniel McKenzie says hi
You guys know who you are.
Great game tonight. Seb Ross was also great. Dunstan played up his to his value

DMac did some really clever things that won't be stats. He seems to do well when he's got multiple opposition players around him and thinks his way through congestion and seems to make good decisions, well that's what it looked like tonight.

Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
Best game DMac has played for the club.
I can put my hand up and say I was wrong although I always though he was played out of position on the backline.
He has certainly proved his worth this year.

Ok Ross was good after quarter time.

Seb was good just needs to move the ball on a bit quicker IMO but was very solid tonight but we had a very even spread every player had an impact of some sort just what you need but unfortunately too late for 2021 .

Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
Bytel is too slow and doesn’t have the running capacity to play on the wing
Seb and McKenzie are playing wing because of the ground the can cover
BTW
A typical game from a wingman is 20-25 possessions
Seb had 19
DMac had 20
Seb was less effective but both were serviceable

Stats don't always give a clear indication of how a player has performed IMO . Both were serviceable Dan was slightly better because he created more opportunity's for us to hit the score board , took the game on at crucial times & his decision making was better than Seb's but IMO only

Just wanted to comment on Darragh Joyce's performance as well. Thought he was great. Gotta play the rest of the season now. Hopefully he can build from that game...
Apologies if there's already a thread about Darragh. Just wanted to mention him.

Had the most metres gained. So carried the ball better than any other Saint.

Based on Goal Assists, DMAC was better than Ross.

DMac has been impressive of late. Quick and tough like Jimmy Webster. In other good news, Coffield - in game 50 - played like we know he can.

Credit to Dan, I had completely written him off a long time ago. He has become a solid depth option and deserves another contract. Love his intensity and attack on the footy.
He's not a polished player and makes a few too many fundamental mistakes to be a starting 22 player for a finals team, but I wouldn't think twice about giving him another 2 year contract.

Agreed… Seb Ross consistently makes skill and decision errors that a player of his experience should not. He’s a fringe player at best in a good team.

Always liked what Dmac has had to offer, although needs to be kept out of defensive 50.
I'd have Dmac over Seb any day of the week because of his physicality and his ability to MOVE THE BALL quickly and, this season, very effectively. He knows his skill limitations and has improved the effectiveness of his kicking.
Seb on the other hand KILLS our ball movement. Gets a free or mark, looks around at all the options, can't decide on one or get creative and then it's "move it on, play on" from the umpire. The oppo has flooded back and either Seb turns over the kick or kicks it to a huge pack. His decision making and skill execution is generally terrible (one rare nice pass inside 50 tonight). He has some pace (rarely uses it), tackles well and good in the air.
Bytel lacks leg speed but that is compensated by his ability to make a decison and use the ball constructively. Would much rather have him in the team, Seb Ross is GOP at best and sets a bad example to youger team mates with his poor decision making and frequent burning of team mates on the lead

Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
Good game from DMac.
He needs to relax more whilst he is out there and not worry so much that his baldy bits might be showing after his hair has been moved around in play.
Sometimes he even looks at the screen to see if his hair is in place and then adjusts it to how he likes it.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

At least he is not doing it 35 times a game anymore.spiral3 wrote: ↑Sun 08 Aug 2021 1:16pmAgree re decision making.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Sun 08 Aug 2021 1:26am Stats don't always give a clear indication of how a player has performed IMO . Re: Daniel McKenzie says hi
Wouldn't be a surprise that the games we've tried to move the ball quick the quicks demonstrate their quickness. DMac, Hill, Sinclair, Kent, Butler all shine when getting the room to run.
Wouldn't be a surprise that Coff, Webster, Highmore, Wilkie, Joyce shine when mid pressure slows the defensive F50 entries.
Wasn't sold on DMac but 2021 breakout season. Adds more than others out of contract.

Yep, I did too. Great game from a really tough nut. I'm a fan.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Sun 08 Aug 2021 12:45am Hi Dan great game tonight I gave you a vote .Cheers bangerulegend
McKenzie, Dunstan and Webster were starved of opportunities last year but all have shown that they are worth keeping this year.
