Kent
I will put my hand up,I didnt want him in the side but he played well .Does he follow up that with another good game, against the cats we really need that sort of performance again.I have my doubts

Re: Kent
He is a hard nut whose biggest issue, to me, seem to be missing set shots. Three goals, after a bad miss, last night would do wonders for his confidence and that has been the entire team's biggest bogey this season. He was the right player to trouble the Swans and his performance will demand more attention from the Cats.

Re: Kent
The problem with Kent is he plays 2 or 3 terrible games, then a good one to keep him in the team, then usually back to a few terrible ones.
I would still prefer Long in the team.

Re: Kent
It's probably between Kent and Lonie for that depth small forward position.

Re: Kent
If Toohey is out Kent's game will concern the Cats. Small ground, his strength in the clinches will be useful around Stewart, Blicavs and Co. If he converts.

Re: Kent
He kicked that goal that he opted to do a set-shot snap from virtually directly in front on the open side for his left foot, but what a weird option.
I'm glad it went through, but that decision was reminiscent of Lonie's weird brain-fade left-foot banana set shot against Adelaide on only a 30° angle and smacked of no confidence in his orthodox set shot.

Re: Kent
Exactly. Kudos to him for a good game but.....plays like a spud with multiple brain fades and balls bouncing off his chest for weeks on end then plays one game that's decent when season is virtually over. No contract for mine. Delist.

Re: Kent
Why is there a bias for Long
And against Kent
Neither are that good
Long has kicked 2-9 since going forward
And Kent had not kicked a goal this season until last game
Kent has played 2 very good games in a stk jumper
Not sure along has played many, if any

True, two were from frees.Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Sun 08 Aug 2021 9:41pm Three gimme goals, two from dodgy free kicks.
Will probably get a new contract on the back of it

Re: Kent
Kent’s problem is he doesn’t have a weapon. He’s not overly quick (but not slow), not particularly good at crumbing, chases but doesn’t lay a lot of tackles.
His major avenue for kicking goals is finding space and kicking goals from set shots… but that he set shot reliability isn’t that good.
He doesn’t crumb like Lonie
He doesn’t use his skill/speed like Butler
Isn’t as tough and hard working as Higgins
So from where I sit he has a few problems…
1. Closely check him and he generally can’t get the ball up forward
2. His skills aren’t so good that he can generally make the most out of very limited opportunities… he did it last night but few can reliably making something of nothing from limited opportunities
3. He’s not that good a mark or set shot to be a player that relies on marking and set shots to kick goals

Re: Kent
He actually is quick
Doesn’t look it, but can hit 34kmh and I believe is only behind Hill at StK
Don’t think he has an engine, seems a burst player.
It’s his kicking that ordinary- I think he has the yips
Unusual for a leftie to be so poor… except Clint Jones

Re: Kent
I think Long brings the pressure more consistently can mark overhead - Kent can’t
Long younger
Kent at Dees renowned for poor foot skills but had pace
He’s delist fit me and Long is kept
You have to upgrade even your depth
