Re: Hannas Rumour from social media
This!
An abominable decision, yet those involved in getting it over the line plus the player are still at the club. Only Richo is missing, he must feel like the Beatles original drummer.
All those who selected JB at 3 are long gone, leaving the JB to cop the brunt of being selected at 3.
Similar with McCartin, this time all are gone but the repercussions linger.
Now we are effectively held to a deal that only Old Xavs will benefit from.

The rumour I’m hearing is that he’s looking good and they’re confident he’ll be ready to go round 1…

Are those who brought him to the club going to hand back some of their salary too?shmic_s wrote: ↑Sat 07 Aug 2021 10:08am Reports that they have negotiated a reduced contract for next year.

Well that's positive, he could have been a prick abs stuck to the contract. Shows a bit of character at least.

Re: Hannas Rumour from social media
Time will tell. Seems like there may have been more than one trigger in his contract. Another whose fault for being at the club does not rest with him - others need to be held to account in my opinion.
If he's on our list next season I wish him nothing but the best. However we paid money the equivalent of a 2015 Hannebery not the broken shell of that version six years on. Sydney are not a silly club nor are the desperate. We appear to tick both boxes.

Agree 100%.SaintJohno wrote: ↑Sat 07 Aug 2021 10:37am Well that's positive, he could have been a prick abs stuck to the contract. Shows a bit a character at least.
To be honest, it's not his fault that we elected to draft him in the first place, not his fault that the club elected to throw that much money at him, not his fault that his body has kept breaking down, it sounds like he has left no stone unturned trying to get his body right.
No doubt he is a quality player but it's just tragic that his body has betrayed him - do we keep him on at this more realistic salary in the hope that his body comes good, or do we just cut our losses and accept that he's cooked and bring in a young guy???
Interesting to see which way they'll go

Re: Hannas Rumour from social media
In essence I fully understand and agree why St Kilda went after Dan Hannebery at the end of 2018, but the real question surrounding his recruitment from the Swans is the due diligence the club's medical team were required to perform on his dodgy calves and hamstrings, which were widely reported towards the end of that year when he missed a total of 9 games due to injury.
I'm not sure if the club medicos have ever been brought to account because most of the blame about what turned out to be a bad decision has been directed at Finnis and Lethlean. It will be interesting to see if the truth will ever be revealed about the people involved.
It is certainly good to hear that Dan himself is prepared to take a pay cut and I really hope he is able to make a full recovery and play a lot of games in the next 2 years - I'm quite certain he will give it his all.

"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

I think we all assumed it was a failure of due diligence.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Sat 07 Aug 2021 1:20pm In essence I fully understand and agree why St Kilda went after Dan Hannebery at the end of 2018, but the real question surrounding his recruitment from the Swans is the due diligence the club's medical team were required to perform on his dodgy calves and hamstrings, which were widely reported towards the end of that year when he missed a total of 9 games due to injury.

Maybe there was no due diligence done in the first place?
It's a bit like saying there’s oxygen failure on Mars. There's no oxygen on Mars.
They probably only said that they would do due diligence for appearances and just went through the motions. It was always going to be a fait accompli.

Re: Hannas Rumour from social media
According to the article he played 201 of possible 220 games at Swans. Maybe no one should be blamed and it’s just bad luck?Sanctorum wrote: ↑Sat 07 Aug 2021 1:20pm In essence I fully understand and agree why St Kilda went after Dan Hannebery at the end of 2018, but the real question surrounding his recruitment from the Swans is the due diligence the club's medical team were required to perform on his dodgy calves and hamstrings, which were widely reported towards the end of that year when he missed a total of 9 games due to injury.

Best outcome we could have hoped for.
Having a lower wage might take some of the pressure off his shoulders as well and help him relax.
Hope he has a belter of a season next year.
