Let’s get real
Midfield poor
Last kick in 50 poor
Kick out defensive struggle
We lack their skill and need an outside damaging goal kicking mid plus KPD
But King just showed why u get his brother
We’ll be unstoppable
Make it happen
Bro g on draft picks no more rubbish talk of finals
Play the long game...
Operation Get Bing should be in full swing
We will not regret paying overs in the short term.
We do need a CHB though.
Gee King was good though
I may have had a couple but watching him run and jump at the ball - 8 contested marks???? He’s almost the perfect complement to his lead up brother ..
We just gotta get some decent kicks going into forward 50 ..
They had no answer today the longer that game went..the more goals he kicks.... loved it
The game was lost in the 2nd quarter, where WCE stepped up and our midfield lacked the speed to go with them. Too often this year we have had really poor quarters in games.
But the fight back in the 2nd half was promising given the players we had out. King was brilliant. Jones gave us the run we needed and Steele tagged Kelly which someone should have done from the outset.
Otherwise given who we had out it was an honourable loss, but spells the end of our finals chances.

Yep, imagine how good he’d be with decent delivery and better forward structure!
All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.
Very proud of the fact they didn't roll over and kept coming. When you look at the 22 who were out there I think it's a game that could act as a benchmark for effort.
I am hoping this is just the beginning for Clav and we sign him up. I think he'll get better and better.
Clav, Connolly, Byrnes & hopefully Bytel should play out the season and use that belief through pre season.

Spot on,
Keep playing Connolly ...if he gets a few more games and work toward 20 disposals, his kicking is excellent
Byrnes and Connolly don't look out of place out there. Byrnes is 12 games into his career and this year he's averaging 17 touches a game. He's tracking very well compared to many others we've tried over the past decade. I'm convinced he'll becime a consistent 25 posession player once he's played 30games. As for Connolly, we know his kicking us elite, but he's made some nice moves in traffic that show he's got decent spacial awareness.
Clavarino I'm not so sure about. I'd like to see him in another four or five games before losing faith. He looks nervous out there.
Simply a great opportunity to develop them in the heat of the AFL, none have shown they are not up to it & will only benefit.
I imagine having tasted it they will be hungry for more, knowing what's required their pre seasons will be intense as they push themselves to one day become locks.
Agree Hunter and Kent are not up to it and must go, Marshal and Higgins the obvious replacements. Long is hard at it but also hard to watch with many simple mistakes and fails to hit the scoreboard perhaps have a look at Sharman or bring Bytel back they would not have to contribute much to be better than Long

Totally agree
4 games left let them play
It’s not that Connolly only got it 11 times...it’s that he doesn’t just rush the kick to bomb it in..,,he’s got a quick step and prepared to take the game on....he’s the kind of kid we want the ball in his hand into forward 50 in future
Must keep playing

I am really liking what Long brings to the forward line. He just needs to snag a couple.
I would have given him a vote tonight if he kicked straight.
Guys with those kind of kicking skills are like gold in the modern game. He needs to given every opportunity to develop because he'll be a huge asset with those skills

He genuinely hunts opposition players was hoping he’d get a goal or 2 tonight cause he’s cracking in
He offers something different Long ...touch of Max Rooke about him
But mad but makes stuff happen abs hurts in the tackle
Keeper for mine take good with bad

Do you think that if he wasn’t stronger, he wouldn’t be better?
Here you just for you - muscle ain’t everything...
Max King with 8 contested marks equals the most CM taken in a game by a Saint since the stat started being recorded.
Stat wasn’t taken when Plugger was in the RWB but since then the only other Saints to take 8 in a game were Loewe twice as a 32 year old and Hamill as a 28 year old. G Train managed 7 a couple times as a 28 year old and Roo managed 7 in the ‘09 prelim at almost 27.

Re: Clav - that is only because of the lack of leadership out on the ground and lack of composure by some of our older heads. Not on him.
