Re: Match Thread Saints v Weagles Round 19 2021
We almost had them on their home turf.
Their 2 big forwards in the first half, our poor 2nd quarter, and their more efficient F50 entries was the tiny difference.
We have a few players to get back - so, we are better placed than them.

Great result. A few goals down against eagles at Home when we are half a team. Plus Max King is the real deal, owned it tonight. See this season out and get a few heavy hitters back for 2022 things are looking good

The Darling free was there. He was grabbed momentarily by the jumper. It had no effect but it's paid these days (when seen). Why do they still do it?

Terrible game from Howard. He won’t man up. Abuses others for mistakes, but makes a bundle himself.

Butler had his best game for the year.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Howard has no support in the air he’s trying to defend his man and cover others. He was ok again today.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Weagles Round 19 2021
Marshall, Battle, Carlisle, Paton, perhaps Joyce, all would have helped there.
Still, the guys we had out there tried their guts out.
Hopefully King and Butler can build on their confidence based on what they brought to the table today.
We seem to like the bigger grounds these days. Might help us a bit against the Swans if we have to play them at Metricon or the Gabba in a couple of weeks time.

Needs a massive kick up the bum for that effort in the contest where Kennedy took the mark off his knee. If you look closely he was actually expecting to mark the ball even though it was barely over head height for Kennedy.

Their ability to score so easily and our innate ability to pick out opposition backmen, for the first three quarters was the difference.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Sat 24 Jul 2021 8:13pm Eight points. The difference in the end was their ability to score from centre clearances.
Disappointing but I am not disappointed.

King kicked 7 was in countless contests not one free. We had one forward 50 free that was to Hunter.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Weagles Round 19 2021
Let’s get real
Midfield poor
Last kick in 50 poor
Kick out defensive struggle
We lack their skill and need an outside damaging goal kicking mid plus KPD
But King just showed why u get his brother
We’ll be unstoppable
Make it happen
Bro g on draft picks no more rubbish talk of finals
Play the long game...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Weagles Round 19 2021
The boys actually played pretty well and could have won apart from.some bad kicking by Longy and Kent.
The second quarter was also pretty shocking.
But overall they did better than expected, even though finals are now out of reach.
Can't wait for 2022 and a full list to choose from.

Why wouldn't we play Sydney at Marvel, after all it's our home game and teams should still be able to travel to Melbourne in a couple of weeks, whether crowds are allowed or not.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Weagles Round 19 2021
Connolly had little impact. He’s only a kid, I don’t think he is at the level yet. He needs time to develop to see if he can play at the level.
2 nice kicks last week
But at the end of the day he had 6 kicks total
He’s had exposure which is great. But a way to go
