Re: Good Bye Billings
This will be quite funny. No one knows what JB is on but to make themselves feel better they will claim it to be a more palatable "significantly less".
Then instead of congratulating or celebrating that he's stayed with the Saints. He'll be potted for not being good enough to attract more money after spending weeks saying he's worth a 1st or 2nd round draft pick, that we should gleefully accept.
It appears this good news (JB staying) may cause a bit of frustration for some.

Aggree, and if previous claims are correct of $700 or $800+ per season then that is way overs.Gershwin wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jul 2021 6:19pmShouldn't get any more than what Sinclair has accepted.Vortex wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jul 2021 4:47pmHow much less? I think we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves here. He wants to stay, we want him to stay, and that's great unless he wants to stay for 750K and we want him to stay for 550K then a lot of work and negotiation needs to happen. I hope he's a realist.

Claims?!
Again, no actual idea of what he’s on and what he’ll probably get.
Rule of thumb
Whatever the media reports, minus about 20%

How did you come up with that rule?
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Good Bye Billings
Most important is that Billings grows…
…grows a mud-flap, mullet.
The fortunes of Jack Sinclair and Butler correspond perfectly reflect the necessity of a mullet. Sinclair grew the flap and commensurately bloomed as a player. He was iffy with the short cut. Conversely, Butler shined with the mullet, and has been dismal since chopping it off.
If Membrey can grow some Fraser Gehrig rats tails it will help his accuracy.

Bye bye Lonie Boy
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Either way, if JB has signed then let's hope he signs on a fair amount so we can maximise our cap provided we've jettisoned those that cannot get on the park.

Still can’t get a game with no players left. A good VFL player.

Re: Good Bye Billings
Very good VFL player
And when in form, a handy AFL player
Yes we have a lot of injuries, but still have Butler, Long, Billings and Kent available

A pity Lonnie isn’t getting a run. For his size he’s a tough little bugger. Maybe he will get a run elsewhere?

Re: Good Bye Billings
It doesn't matter how many "wish he were gone" threads are started and humoured about Jack, doggedly hoping he goes won't make it happen. Need to think why do you want him gone, why is is one of the first picked every week. If its true he wants to stay and we want him to stay he will stay (why bulls*** about that, there are plenty of weasel deflection cliches to use) and discussions may be more be about how he hopes to be used and our recruitment plans.
Can't fathom why Jack's become a target when there are so many other deserving to be considered for moving on. Hannebery??? And the hype about Ben King is just that -beware the Rhys Stanley syndrome. Looks a million - has the physical traits but a consistent match winner...? Like, I hate to say, Max. Can be anything but often is nothing. Would you have him taking a contested mark or 40 metre shot for your life. Or, say, Wilkie - low key but a consistent star. The old saying : all that glitters...

Re: Good Bye Billings
Missed a crucial goal. I notice you didn’t have him in your top 5. Did he make your top 10?

Kicked a great goal and if you didn’t notice he was tagged by Hutchins.
Also carrying a injury.

Bontempelli aint on our list so why would I need to justify that???Ghost Like wrote: ↑Tue 20 Jul 2021 8:03amNo worries. How bout that game turning pivotal over head contested mark that stopped the oppositions run
I will settle for a match winning goal
The way I see it we have two very well paid players on the wings that rack up possessions looking like superstars because they have plenty of time to dispose playing wide, who dont really influence the game when it counts
Good players - yes - but gee great players dont stuff letting all the good work come undone with a stuff up in the last like Mr Hill
Interesting that Hill's stuff ups have blown back on Billings for the sake of this thread. Only on Saintsational.
While you’re there line that up against a Bontempelli’s match winning games ....who deserves the big money
Billings is an ok outside player who goes missing way to often and his “lazer” foot skills are overrated
I'm a bit sick of Billings getting pilloried on this forum because of the exceptional football abilities of the Bont.
Can we also get rid of all our other players on the list who have been surpassed by other players in their draft year, just because it's not turned out in our favour?
Billings is
But you keep avoiding the obvious but the excuses wearing thin ...

Everyone likes Jack.,. Just not on 700+ cause he is not worth more than Steele
Jack on 450-5 MAX welcome to stay
Jack wants more than that then Jack goes and we get compensated
Rumours are he wants to stay abs not play at Nth...fair enough then it’s haircut time Jack
Simples ....and Jack can “compares the market” all he likes for mine

Even Kent is probably on 450K. That's a standard bog player wage in the AFL. He's worth about 650K.
