Out: Highmore, McKenzie , Butler
Like for like and with WC big forwards
In : Frawley / Clav, Bytel, Lonie
Sub Coffield
Structure had worked so don't mess with it and WC forwards bigger than Port - Kennedy, Darling, Allen, Ryan. Petrucelli, Cripps.

Re: Changes for Eagles
Butler at least creates chances and demands a defenders attention. Not sure what Lonie offers.terry smith rules wrote: ↑Mon 19 Jul 2021 4:38pmFair enough re Lonie, but how many chances does Butler getCURLY wrote: ↑Mon 19 Jul 2021 4:23pmNot Lonie please. Re: Changes for Eagles
Butler was better this week. His pressure is getting better
However he has not been near AFL standard all year. Something has gone wrong. He is still not getting into the right positions. I thought it was Higgins crowding him. But that theory is done
Frawley will be needed against the West Coast height. This is the sort of game that he was drafted for.
Is Coffield fit yet?

Re: Changes for Eagles
Frawley is needed to help combat WCE's height in attack and yet he is only 193cm, the same height as Highmore, that's a like for like swap.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Changes for Eagles
Should we ask AFL to stay and play in Perth? It would be good to have clubs flying to us to play wouldn’t it

Re: Changes for Eagles
As for Butler reckon he is going to have a big game shortly, trouble is been thinking that for weeks now, still prefer him to Lonie and Kent.Would not mind seeing Leo play across Centre/half forward as his foot skills would impact scoreboard, nothing to lose trying things now
Frawley for Highmore

Re: Changes for Eagles
If Ratts and Lethers have publicly stated their selection policy is not to make examples of players like Hill by dropping them then you'd better hope they are consistent and maintain the integrity of that policy otherwise you watch the s*** hit the fan with the players.
Butler won't be dropped, he absolutely can't be.
Another compromised season due to COVID season has just added another degree of difficulty to a season that's already left the tracks. Selection options are terribly restricted.

Re: Changes for Eagles
Someone who can actually kick the ball through the goals would be nice
When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

Re: Changes for Eagles
That and injuries the only reason Butler says
As Cornes just said on FC ....Butlers playing like a millionaire and his inability to do the team thing when needed is deplorable
He’s extremely lucky Dan soon as Higgins ok he oughta go

Re: Changes for Eagles
Yep, Butler needs to sometimes just take possession of the ball and wear a tackle to win a stoppage. His pokes and taps more often than not end up as an easy rebound for the opposition. Win a stoppage and we have the ruckman to take advantage.Teflon wrote: ↑Mon 19 Jul 2021 11:49pmThat and injuries the only reason Butler says

Re: Changes for Eagles
Lonie. Yeah where does he play?
Not as good as Butler or Long. Too soft, one sided and too slow. He will be delisted at the end of the year.

Re: Changes for Eagles
Re above: don't understand; Buddy is a millionaire but Butler rarely plays like him. Cornesy must be mistaking him for someone else. Is Mav Weller independently wealthy?
Big outs for us, DMac and Highmore were big part of our flickering resurgence (now puffed out).
Interesting to me that despite all our false starts and injuries we are still considered a sneaky chance at Fortress Perth Stadium. Testament to our flaky mercurial form. If North can do it why not us.....well let me count the ways.
Should get a good price though because we only seem to win when Hill and Dunstan play well, King kicks 3 and stops the defenders from clearing at will and Butler makes the tackle of a mega rich mogul in goal square. A good indicator will be if Coffield looks proactive and confident. There's a same game multi. Saver on Eagles by 36.

A mate who follows the Tigers reckons Butler was playing better footy at the Tigers when he got dropped to VFLTeflon wrote: ↑Mon 19 Jul 2021 11:49pmThat and injuries the only reason Butler says

But that’s the state we are in. Just have to pick the best available. Do you bowl the guy who will give us four wides an over, or six?
I suspect they’ll play Kent yet again. Perhaps Lonie. Bytel? If Zac’s hammies are holding out? Frawley is 193cm but he is built like Leigh Mathews and can tackle (could?) the big fellas. He’s like a lighthouse. Highmore has a more regular physique. Maybe, who knows, he could play a game similar to the way the Wakelin twins did, which was very effective.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Changes for Eagles
Going to be a big ask now without Marshall. Eagles at home are bloody hard to beat at the best of times, don't like our chances in this one
