I believe they want him to stay close to goal for the under pressure release kick
My understanding is that they are not even worried about him marking it, his main job is bringing it to ground for the smalls
Ridiculous
That's what they did with McCartin - and look how that turned out.
Yeah I’m genuinely concerned we’ll stuff King up
He’s a rangey tall lead up forward being taught to play like a gorilla with a body that don’t match
Dumb
I deliberately didnt post during the game, because the Saints have become the modern day chokers its hard to watch! Another game of could've/should've/wouldve. Again set shots on goal were park football standard, this side are their own worst enemy they don't deserve to play finals....
Too many of our players go missing when the heat is on eg Butler, Billings, Membrey and a number of others. Butler needs to be dropped if Higgins is fit and its no surprise for Billings he has done it his entire career. Time for the club to move him on it would seem? I dont care if we only get an end of 1st round (band 2) compensation for him, there are 50 other kids in this draft that will show more ticker than him!
More serious injuries this week Highmore with a broken hand likely to miss remainder, Battle stress fractures in his ankle gone for year and McKenzie out just when he was in a run if strong form. 2021 hasnt been a lucky year on the injury front, but mostly the club have failed the test of winning games they were in a position to win. They are a very mentally fragile group who are completely void of killer instincts when the heat is on!

Ratten was asked before the game....would they release King to roam a little further upfield (he looked good last week on the move here) abs he responded with “maybe later in his career right now we need him near the sticks”
He'd drop dead after five minutes on the ball. "Later in his career" he might get really fit and really strong. If he doesn't - he'll never make it.

Not on the ball ffs a link up lead up marking target up the ground geezus not a mid
Why can’t Dan Butler do the simple things??
Goes Hollywood all the time
Running forward last qtr he had Hill free inside who would’ve had a shot from 35 so Dan decided to kick it straight to Port defenders??
Is this guy brain dead ????
Needs a spell in the twos for mine I just hope Higgins can come back ..
No one likes a loss but they had us on the edge of our seats to the last couple of minutes
Some great effort by a handful of players and overall we are starting to turn a corner
Now let’s rotate some players try some kids Butler must spend time in the twos. See what we get for Billings
Who knows 2022 is starting to show some promise
At the start of the season I thought we were done and dusted for a long time

Spot on Firey
Give Joyce a go - we need another tall defender and next week against eagles 3 talls we might be in strife ...

Forget about it - if the sun rises on the morning of the game we are in strife - no heart - no soul - no effort

If you have a Bee in your Bonnet - I can assist you with that - but it WILL involve some smacking upside the head!
saw billings twice pull out of a contest in the final last year. second one was about twenty metres from me. he was clear first to the ball, with a tiger and a teammate coming fast. likely to get crunched. he pulled up. in a final. not what you want to see.
"The starting point of all achievement is desire. "
His first involvement today was to back into a pack and cause a spill.
He’s not Lenny Hayes, but he’s not an inside mid, actually he’s not even a mid.
He’s a 20ppg HF
The sooner we get out heads around it the better
I don’t see Billings getting into a pack and winning a hard ball. Today he chose poor options and his disposal was not good. From a player with his supposed credentials, he is a massive underperformer.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.
You can blame set shots, umpiring or what ever you want but the bottom line IMO is they were harder for longer & that's why they won. We have been good for a few weeks but today was a reality check if you don't come to play you will get beaten . Too many non contributors total opposite to last week, it was hard to leave players out of the votes last week & this week hard to find players to vote for . Not the end of the world getting experience into some young players & finding out who is not up to it , disappointing for sure but not surprised
Billings is slow and in matches that are physical like today he struggles
Anyway I can’t see a band 1 comp cause his output just isn’t there so for move it’s take a pay cut time

That's exactly what I thought immediately after the match. No hunger. No passion!!
Like Firey said, at least there's hope for 2022 and we can look forward to the development of the youngsters. I think Steele and the other guys around his age won't be dropping off and most of them will be hitting their prime in the next 2-3 years

Maybe we would have been better off not playing him. Y'know... like when we got Hannas and Sydney weren't playing him much
Let other clubs work off Billings potential output (and his best games for us) rather than his actual performances at the moment

The issue with constantly missing set shots is it erodes the team confidence, and reward for effort. It a physiological downer that goes right through the team, its really deflating.

Its why we got him cheap from the Tigers, he is another who wont do the hard stuff. He should have been dropped weeks ago but we dont have the depth to replace him. Hopefully Higgins is right to go this week.

I can see why Tiges moved him on tbh
He did exactly same there up for 1 year AA quality completely gone next
He’s still better than Lonie but Higgins is far ahead of both abs provides a marking option
