Votes v Power
Just not enough poise when it counted . According to Eddie I should give all my votes to some Power bloke called Bergman who I reckon was about 23rd best on ground .. however here are mine
5. Brad Crouch . So strong inside
4. Rowan Marshall. Superb presence. If only he had nailed those set shots
3. Jack Steele. Another leader’s game.
1. Jimmy Webster . Bar one brain fade in last quarter was very solid
1. Brad Hill. Bar two brain fades in last quarter used it well.
1. Luke Dunstan . Quiet early, but very strong late
At the point Dan McKenzie went off I had him in top 3 or 4.

Re: Votes v Power
Disappointing game by Crouch for me. I think he was easily the hardest worker and I know you have to reward effort...
But his disposal and finishing skills were average today

Re: Votes v Power
Scollop - as you said yesterday in the thread discussing whether we keep this thread going each week, we can - and do - differ , which is fine. Pleasingly, your comments don’t negate the 5 votes I gave him! As you say he was “easily the hardest worker “ and “ you have to reward effort “ , which I and others did. I agree he is not Leo Connolly in terms of quality of disposal, but he had fewer clangers than many others . In my view he often seemed to just will the ball forward. Tough, hard at the ball, top game.
I know you only put your votes in after watching the replay ( as you explained in your post yesterday ) whereas I pull the trigger right on siren time . I think when you do put your votes in you may find a spot for Crouch. If not , no worries - I’ll see you on the votes thread next week !
Cheers

Re: Votes v Power
Crouch was excellent
36 disposals
20 contested
11 clearances
9 tackles
515 metres gained
That is a huge game

Re: Votes v Power
Can't recall him putting many of those disposals to a team-mates advantage though- a lot of small chippy or scrubbing kicks. The PA mids used the ball much better.

Apologoes to Leo. I was going to give him a vote based on his 2 magnificent stab passes, but I thought Crouch Dougs and Seb deserved votes for effort

Re: Votes v Power
Yes, on the surface they look like great numbers. I watched the replay and I have to say I didn't think Brad was BOG. I prefer not to look at stats and just watch every second of the match replay
When a player kicks the footy off the ground (without picking it up ..just a toe poke) and it goes straight out of bounds and the umpire pays deliberate, is that counted as metres gained for Crouch?
Obviously he also got the clearance because it was on the wing at a boundary throw in. When he's running free and does a long bomb and it gets turned over that also counts. When he has a shot from 40m out and misses, that also counts for metres gained doesn't it?
I think Steele and Dunny did as much bullocking work as Brad and got their hands on the footy first at stoppages, just as much as Brad
It will be interesting to see how the coaches vote
