Season in danger
I am getting this bad feeling that this season is on the verge of shutdown as this Delta variant has now spread beyond NSW.
WA have just restricted access to Victorians. Sydney should have gone into lock down two weeks earlier than they did.

Think of me long enough to make a memory.

WA have said anyone from Victoria must quarantine for 14 days - presumably this might mean we wont be going to WA

So Slo Mo reckons that NSW quarantine is the Gold Standard!
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Been better than Victoria so far but lets wait and see. Problem is letting unvaccinated people in from overseas.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 7:48pm So Slo Mo reckons that NSW quarantine is the Gold Standard!

Re: Season in danger
How is the rate if vaccination now and will it have an impact on the season?
If,say, 60-70% of the population has been fully vaccinated, wouldn’t it impact the situation in general, including quarantines etc.?

IMO the border should just be shut. No o/s trips period. No-one comes in. Seems to me that every outbreak is the result of someone bringing it back from travelling o/s.saynta wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 7:54pmBeen better than Victoria so far but lets wait and see. In the UK 70% have had both injections and 90% have had one.

Re: Season in danger
The AFL knows about WA latest news.
Anyone going from Vic to WA must quarantine for 14 days.
Saints cannot travel to Perth for the WCE game.
WCE may have to play us at Marvel

Re: Season in danger
You might be right there. Although you'd wager that they would prefer not to play us at our home ground, their record at Geelong is as bad as ours!WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 10:21pm The AFL knows about WA latest news.

So, I don't think they'll want to play us at Geelong, and as the MCG is now a Tier 1 exposure site, that looks unlikely, and there are positive cases in Bacchus Marsh so the AFL may not even want games played in Ballarat either.

Re: Season in danger
Nationwide 33.9% over 16 have had one dose, 12.1% are fully vaccinated. At this rate it will take years to get to 70% of the whole population properly vaccinated. Some countries are vaccinating kids over 12 already.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 8:00pm How is the rate if vaccination now and will it have an impact on the season?

Long term nope. But short term, until a large percentage are vaccinated, yes.SaintPav wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 10:15pmIs that a sustainable strategy though?st.byron wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 8:55pmIMO the border should just be shut. Most outbreaks, to my knowledge, are the result of people bringing it back from o/s. Simple short term solution - shut the border. F***** ridiculous that entire cities are being locked down because someone went somewhere, in the current international climate, and brought back Covid. It’s entirely preventable.

Re: Season in danger
If Melbourne goes back into lock down I can see the entire AFL moving to either SA or WA depending on whatever state accepts them.
NRL have moved all their clubs to QLD, so I'd imagine that precludes the AFL going up there as well.

If the UK are already at 70% fully vaccinated, how can it be that our much smaller population cannot catch up?Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 11:28pm If Melbourne goes back into lock down I can see the entire AFL moving to either SA or WA depending on whatever state accepts them.

Just because your vaccinated, doesn't stop you from contracting the virus and spreading it. It just lowers the mortality rate of the vaccinated. Just stop international travel.st.byron wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 8:55pmIMO the border should just be shut. No o/s trips period. No-one comes in. Who gives a f***. Not I. Nor my 91 year old mother in law who probably would be dead by now if they hadn't closed the boarders.SaintPav wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 10:15pmIs that a sustainable strategy though?st.byron wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 8:55pmIMO the border should just be shut. yep. I couldn't get my head around why the numbers whinging about the difficulty in getting back to Oz kept hanging around 35,000 even with over 23 thousand coming back into quarantine each month.
Then I saw an article about 40,000 citizens and 5,000 visa holders being given permission to leave each month.
