Run to the finals - who could believe it is possible
Using the AFL ladder predictor if we beat Fremantle, west coast, Carlton and one other game we make it. So need to pinch one of Port or Sydney under the dome. We won’t beat Geelong in G town unless there is no crowd.
Hopefully we are still a live chance when we play Fremantle in the last round.
Sorry if this is already in another thread.

Every game is winnable going forward if we continue in this vein of form

Pretty simple really.
Some teams feed of a crowd and the noise, the excitement.
I remember Dad telling me about Killa at the Junction Oval pacing the boundary line swinging a towel around revving the crowd up to bring the boys home in the last quarter.
Would have loved to have seen that era.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

GWS and Richmond both did us a favour by losing today

Only some teams
What about the other teams?
BTW
How do teams win interstate if the crowd is the factor?

The crowd is not the only factor and I’m sure you know that.

Re: Run to the finals - who could believe it is possible
Our recent record against our opponents in the run home doesn't make for great reading
Versus:
Port - We've won once out of the last ten matches against them
Eagles - We've won two out of the last thirteen matches against them - our last away win against them was way back in 2010.
Carlton - We've won twenty-two of the last twenty nine matches against them
Sydney - We've won two of the previous fifteen matches against them
Geelong - we've won one of the previous twelve matches against them - the last time we beat them down at Geelong was last century - 1999. Our average losing margin down there in this time is 52 points.
Fremantle - We've won thirteen of the previous nineteen matches against them
If we make it from here it will require us to NOT play to the script.

Re: Run to the finals - who could believe it is possible
If we can parlay the excellent results of the last three matches into a run of wins a la 1997, 2004, 2009, and 2010 (which were very unique years for St Kilda FC) we will play finals, but that is the magnitude of the task we face.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Sun 11 Jul 2021 10:08pmIf we are to win another Premiership it will require us NOT playing to script.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sun 11 Jul 2021 10:01pm Our recent record against our opponents in the run home doesn't make for great reading

Samuraisaint - You forget 2005 - 6 and 7 to 14 and 8 with the loss against Whispers in the Sky.

Handy result. We need to do the same in a fortnight.

Get your hand off it BM I used to read your threads above others but somehow your ego has gone way ahead of the person and now you think your knowledge is way ahead of all the other simpletons on here (not you Saynta) but truth is you're fast approaching self acclaimed expert at it's dumbest.....school teachers all the same

Probably at one time or another most posters have suffered from it. Some more than others.

Re: Run to the finals - who could believe it is possible
Well, the Port record came back to bite us, didn't it? They have now won 10 of their last 11 against us. The club and team need to be better than that. Hinkley outcoached us to the max. Literally - forrwards being shepherded out of marking contests all afternoon. We need to play smarter.
Now, to the Eagles - who have won 11 of their past 13 against us. They haven't been playing well, and play the Crows tomorrow in Adelaide. The Saints of the nineties and noughties would have made s*** of them the way they are playing at present.
This is an opportunity to get us right back into finals contention if we can win it - but it would take St Kilda NOT playing to the script to do it, as we haven't beaten them in Perth since 2010. We are overdue.
