Still tend to agree, even in the afterglow of last night. The problem this list has, and it's a big problem, you can't trust them, we've been here before, too many times. Still a lot of very young and green players make up a big part of our best 22. Having said that, and ironically, the silver lining to the season has been getting games into young and green players.
You need insurance against a a significant injury list like we've had.

I don't really understand why the club should offer Geary any off-field position, surely we're not into some sort of superannuation scheme for former players. It's all very well to laud a player who has been a loyal servant of the club but 99.99% of retired or delisted players have had to venture out into the cruel world and had to forge for themselves!

Good governance is appointing/employing people based on their proven qualifications and merit, St Kilda is not the ALP!!! Or the Maritime Union of Australia - who have just done a disgusting deal with the world's largest stevedoring company, Hutchsion Ports whereby "up to 70 per cent of new hires at Hutchison Ports will have to be sourced from employees’ “families and friends” and a union list of names as part of what the wharfies’ union is calling a groundbreaking deal."

Not a bad racket when you consider that the average crane operator on the docks is said to be earning $170,000....

That has changed, it used to be 100% were sourced from family or friends. For as long as I can remember it was always a closed shop. I worked there in the 80s & one of my brothers was there in the 70s.

Apart from the political rant, I totally agree. It's hardly a ruthless decision not to renew and either the CEO is weak or the COO feels guilty for doing the Hannas deal

The problem with giving him a contract is that there is a very high probability that you will get a very similar output to what we've seen the last 2 years

When someone is injured for a lengthy period of time they need some games to get touch and regain their form. We can't afford to be carrying passengers at a stage when we need to push for finals campaigns.

Yes, I know he was good in the elimination final last year (2020), but he'll be 2 years older (if we make finals in 2022) and I don't think he has the speed and power in his body that he used to have

Who knows hence why IMO IF it’s true and he plays on he’s not thinking about the best thing for our footy club cause he will not as an ex captain be content to see out his days in the vfl
