Gee thats a bit hard....in 1873 the Saints football club formed with the saints crictketers and the South Yarra football club...
But if your are talking about 1887...
We joined forces with University in 1875, bu;t I have no idea what happened later..
Good question .....

Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!

I know:
In 1875, St Kilda merged with University halfway through the season as both Clubs were struggling badly. "St Kilda-cum-University" was no better than either Club on its own, losing every match and reappearing in thier own rightws in 1876.
And:
In 1888, St Kilda was ordered to merge with neighbor (and rival) Pahran in a bid to rid the 20+ team competition of unwieldiness. More of a takeover than a merger, as St Kilda kept its own name, colours (apart from the teams knickerbockers changing to the blue of Pahran) and ground, and we got thier very best players. The Pahran team were invited back into the VFA in 1899 after the competition was crippled by the founding of the VFL 2 years earlier.

Whoa - "on the right track" B W and R all over - not "got it right - next Q"
However, seeing you've already asked the next Q, the answer to the previous Q was:
In 1966 and 2004 we were unbeaten at our home grounds.
Over to you - next Q!!
