Ratts and his assistants are the problem.
Some truth in this
There is clearly no forward structure or plan when bringing it in - our goals are scrappy, haphazard yet we have talented players in there who will stagnate with this level of incompetence in our coaching and development

Umpires ruined a good contest with incidental BS free kick. There was like 10 of them in the last 10min and 3 that were actually there.

NO ONE WANTS TO WATCH YOU UMPIRES

They sunk us with that BS free on the goal line that wasn’t there and and just kept paying soft ones one way
Only have ourselves to blame.

Umps give us soft frees in forward 50 (Lonie) and we butcher it.

What’s Howard doing tackling a bloke to ground for about 3 seconds after he got rid of it??

Us not being able to move the ball or hit a target had nothing to do with anybody but ourselves.
I don’t disagree with that or even that we deserved to lose but I don’t freakin turn the TV on to watch the umpires pay a ton of incidental free kicks one way or another. And that’s what they did for the last 15mon of that match and it ruined a hard fought contest

How freaking complicated must this game be that these players that have played it all their lives broke the rules 55 times in 80mon of actual play

Ugly to watch... way worse then the skills

I’ll cop a loss any day of the week but the freakin umpires are what turned that last quarter around
That free against Howard was rubbish

The bustling on the line happens several times in every single game.
Hardly ever paid.
It's just normal bustling with fwd trying to mark and defender trying to spoil.
Howard definitely held on too long, he should be smarter than that.

St Kilda is a dumb football side.

We now look worse than the Richo era.

Some or all of these assistants need to go......the skills now are deplorable across the board and only getting worse. Players are always more talented when they arrive at the club and they eventually become shadows of their former selves

Too many of our young players have either stopped developing or are out of form.

We need to recruit quality midfielders ... concentrate 100 % on doing that.
Hopefully Ben King can be persuaded to stay put.

We panicked a lot in the backline under immense pressure in the last.

No system to move the ball out of D50 didn’t help.

We helped but 11-3 in the last 3 gifted goals from rubbish frees.

If you honestly believe it well what more can I say IMO we were weak & just didn't want it as much as they did but hey IMO only

Maybe we'll get another 'keep up the good work fellas' message from the President, the CEO will clap on about some theme round, Roughhead will continue his 'yeh-nahs' and the 'Sounds of the Saints' podcast will spin out more of the same.

I don't think the club gets it. We have become a laughing stock.

A total and utter laughing stock. The competition is genuinely mocking us and they've got every right to. Our footy club has become focused on everything except winning. This is the sum total of all those things coming home to roost.

For once, I'm not shocked. I'm not surprised. This was absolutely in line with what I expect and have been warning about for a long time. This mentality, culture, attitude and approach is what we are. We've embraced the soft option; the cuddle culture and the weakest link approach.

Right now, under this leadership, this is what St Kilda stands for now.

If we need another Key Forward he has to different to the Kings, i think.

Wilh Clark injured we will probably have to go with the same duds next game and add another spud which should not be hard to find.
Certainly heading for an early draft pick so time to upgrade the recruiting staff

Bringing this back to the game

This happened a bit in the Richo years... the opposition started dominating the contests so all we could do was kick the ball long to packs of players.

That’s the attitude that needs to stop. We weren’t winning them anyway... may as well kick 1:1 on the other side of the field and back your better players... or switch it around a bit or something

I agree with this. Honestly, I think the marketing department is more important than the football department at St.Kilda. It's what we care about more, unfortunately.

Dont blame umpires our players are so overrated its not funny.
Butlers gone backwards alongwith Battle Billings Lonie etc. Hunter is not AFL standard.
We just believe our bull s*** at St.kilda something we have done forxm a long time. We need a massive clean out .
As a long tine supporter/membet i am totally fed up with this s*** club and they can stick their membership where the sun dont shine.
Get St.Kilda people running our club and not zig and zag afl rejects along with the circus clowns we have now.
I think it it obvious there is internal issues that i am sure will come out soon.

Dougal kicks in to a crowded wing with every point scored in that last qtr …..why not get Hill to use his pace and run from the crowded wing to the other to quickly get it down to our forward line

What we need are skills

Dud hit the nail on the head in an earlier post... we let them back into the contest with easy misses when we had the momentum
Lonie was abysmal
Butler couldn’t get near it
Higgins had a disappointing miss late

And no one else looked capable of doing anything to square one up

End of the day... we lack players that have the mentality to do the job themselves

At least we don't have to watch the rabble that is the St Kilda football club next week with the bye.

27 wooden spoons says it all unfortunately. FFS don't you dare get another one of those!!!

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

My two kids are mad Saints supports.
7 & 5. Went to bed at half time and will be totally gutted in the morning.
Really feel like telling them to support another team.
Supporting this club is just a lifetime of pain.
