LOL - I was thinking Membrey!
I was going to say Round 3

The last few times there was the same number of candidates as vacancies so no vote was required.
I'm thinking you would have to go back to the end of Greg "right?" Westaway's time.

He was an interesting poster and made plenty of good posts.
At one stage he became a moderator but went a bit off the rails and unleashed a series of bizarre posts one evening - not sure if he was drunk or had some sort of breakdown!
Then he left and later formed a separate Facebook group where he got into the orange hat thing.
There was a group of his "followers" sitting up on L3 with their orange hats and strange chants - like a cult!
The next we heard he had passed away, about 4 years ago.
Certainly a passionate, if slightly eccentric supporter.
His real name was Andrew de Xxx (some sort of South African name).

Re: When was the last time members got to vote ...
I think this is an important discussion. Clubs often tell members how valuable the member is. And substantially that is true. 50,000 members equates to a lot of income. However when it comes to elections there always seems to be an eerie silence.
I was intrigued by a comment from veteran journalist and long-time Collingwood supporter Barrie Cassidy who said, "Democracy ought to be introduced" at the Magpies, claiming members have had little chance to influence direction at board level for two decades.
I think this has become the standard model for AFL clubs – we love the cash the members bring but let’s keep the decisions (and the Board) to those who know.
Cassidy went on to say, "There hasn’t been an election at Collingwood for more than 20 years, so there’s nobody there with a mandate from the members. They’re all there with a mandate from one another. It’s high time – a bit of democracy ought to be introduced."
Some might say giving members that opportunity is playing with fire. The way things are at St Kilda the fire may already have been lit.

Re: When was the last time members got to vote ...
Pretty much sums it up. When do we, as members, get to have a genuine say in what happens with the club? We can jump up and down all we like but, at the end of the day, we're just ignored. The board has been pretty much unaccountable to the members for way too long.DownAtTheJunction wrote: ↑Wed 09 Jun 2021 4:52pmI think this is an important discussion. Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

We do have the power to vote to a degree …..don’t pay your membership fees automatically make them see the our displeasure in hanging onto our money , wait for them to squirm. A simple task of blocking them to our accounts making them chase us
