I agree Curly, and it is a big loss. But we have to be good enough to cover any contingency and we are a way off that yet,CURLY wrote: ↑Sun 06 Jun 2021 8:40amGhost Like wrote: ↑Sun 06 Jun 2021 12:51amMissing Carlisle was not our problem. Howard, Wilkie, Webster, Clavarino did enough. Our mids & forwards lost this game.
Marshall is basically our most important player. CHF that takes the heat of King and Membrey.

Yes of course and in time it will be easier. Just with a second year forward they need support. Take Buddy out how would there young tall have gone?bigcarl wrote: ↑Sun 06 Jun 2021 10:49amI agree Curly, and it is a big loss. Now your being ridiculous. We played Sydney at the SCG a far far better team than Adelaide. Collingwood fell over the line against Adelaide who are so inconsistent and unpredictable.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Sun 06 Jun 2021 10:48am OK Curly, you're right. Grundy is dispensable. Whilst St Kilda doesn't have Marshall, all our players get a free pass and we should not expect to win a game.
Good plan, our coaches, our recruiters and our players will be so relieved that the pressure is off whilst Marshall doesn't play.

Yep, agree. We have the makings of a very good team once our glaring structural deficiencies are addressed. We need a CHF (Marshall imo) a CHB, a good ruckman ready to go and a young developing ruckman.CURLY wrote: ↑Sun 06 Jun 2021 10:52amYes of course and in time it will be easier. And “Missy” Higgins and Winx and others need a lot of work on their set shots. It’s killing us. If you want to win games, you MUST kick well.

How is that ridiculous? Both games were matches between teams on a par with themselves, allegedly. A game in Adelaide is as hard as a game in Sydney, arguably harder.CURLY wrote: ↑Sun 06 Jun 2021 11:09amNow your being ridiculous. We played Sydney at the SCG a far far better team than Adelaide. If you want to let our players and coaches off the hook because Marshall didn't play, that's on you. To my way of thinking that's like blaming the umpires before the game has been played, surely no one would be that daft. Would they?

I don’t reckon Marshall has ever played CHF
In fact, that position doesn’t even exist, hasn’t for years.

I agree with you Ghost Like, but there’s no point arguing.
Some people go through life looking for excuses, while some step up and take responsibility.
Hopefully we have more of the latter down at the club, but I’m not so sure.

You are splitting hairs there. Perhaps we could call the position he plays when not rucking “a physically-inclined tall forward” or “second key forward” or even “first key forward”. For convenience-sake I will call it CHF if that is ok with you.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 12 2021
CHF is a position on the ground between the centre and the goal square
Players are instructed not to kick the ball there, as it is the most dangerous turnover in footy at HB and where most turnover scores are launched from
In fact CHF is normally a small nowadays
Plus, when there actually was CHFs it was seen as the hardest working position outside of the midfield - not sure if a resting ruck would go to CHF for a rest.
Marshall, when forward plays deep
His position is Key Forward

Not excuse as posted above they are reasons. If Sydney played us at full strength at Etihad without Parker Kennedy Florent Lloyd Franklin and lost a player in the first quarter and we only won by a goal we’d be shattered.

If your Aunty had balls...
Sounds like an excuse to me and the fact you are making up a scenario to fit your argument is proof it's an excuse.

No it’s a reason. We are severely undermanned due to injury.

OK if it's the reason you claim then we were never going to win that match. That is rubbish, we should have won that match with the players on the field, right up until the last minute.CURLY wrote: ↑Sun 06 Jun 2021 2:22pmGhost Like wrote: ↑Sun 06 Jun 2021 2:19pmIf your Aunty had balls...

It was poor execution in front of goal and poor disposal and decision making throughout the game.
The players that played need to own that, not hide behind who didn't play.
