Great.
Another 'themed' game.
We don't go well (Silk-Miller game is the exception, but hey, Jones has hurt his quad as the fallout)

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Is a lap of honour really a themed game? just a recognition of a career that included 4 B and F's.MickThomas wrote: ↑Thu 13 May 2021 12:35pm Great.

He deserves a send off.

Will Jack be at his playing weight or will he look like the Michelin Man ?
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Richo giving the eulogy?
I think its nice we are a no hard feelings Club in regards to players, might be hard to always reconcile with some of the other virtues the Club espouses, but.
The image I am having trouble getting rid of is Jack's pass to Jake in the closing seconds of that drawn match. Jake dropped it but it was a mongrel to catch. Sort of defines both of them for me but I am sure that's unfair.

Can GAGF as far as I'm concerned!
The money Saints had to pay for zero output in his last year and (year at Geelong) really stings as he bent us over.
Yes I know he won 4 B&Fs and he had "mental issues"
no great sympathy from me for self inflicted wounds!

When I'm not actually attending a match I switch the TV on right at first bounce, can't stand that pre game rubbish.
But tonight, I'll switch on early to see Jack honoured, a truly great Saint. Well done to the clubs and AFL.
There are a lot of small minds around here.

Re: Jack Steven to be honoured tomorrow night.
Look no further than this thread for proof that the forum is largely inhabited by keyboard haters masquerading as St Kilda Football Club supporters.
There was much speculation on this forum as to why Jack left St Kilda, the only confirmed fact being he stood out of the game due to his mental health issues. Right on cue, here you all go ridiculing the poor guy about his mental health! You are nothing but bullies of the most despicable kind.
Personally, I would have been amazed had not made a public recognition of a great career highlighted by winning 4 Trevor Barker Medals. No fluke this match was the one chosen and speaks volumes of the class of the Geelong Football Club for being actively involved.
Now go suck eggs, you stay at home haters, and keep your foul thoughts to yourself. I can't make the match tonight having only been released from ten days in Peter Mac this afternoon. The footy, they say, is not the place to be when you have spent so much time at Peter Mac!
So, my daughter is already inside the ground. She left early having wanted to see Jack Steven for one last time.

Re: Jack Steven to be honoured tomorrow night.
IMO was a great player for the Saints in some really challenging years & 4 B&F's proves his worth. It was a disappointing end to his career but that's life sometimes it just doesn't work out the way you would have wanted

Agree with most of the more recent posts
Love Jack Steven...
was our best player for a good number of years, close to elite and was a bright, shining star over a dark period. Am at peak fitness, he was just what we were missing last year to really be a threat.
Disappointing how he’s career ended but deserves to be celebrated as a champion of our club that gave great service

I missed his lap.
Was he sober?
It must have been scary for him travelling all that way?

Everyone missed the lap, barely anyone turned up for it. Which says a lot about most supporters feelings toward Jack, not just Saintational posters.Enrico_Misso wrote: ↑Sat 15 May 2021 9:35am I missed his lap.

Re: Jack Steven to be honoured tomorrow night.
Noticed that he was in the Saints rooms after the game, not with his most recent team mates.
He was a great player for StK
Left in average circumstances as we were put over a barrel by Geelong. However, in the end turned out to be a god send!

Re: Jack Steven to be honoured tomorrow night.
I don’t think anyone won out of Jack leaving; we got bent over and Geelong got a chunky, useless version of a former champ - largely a distraction.
Go you red, black & white warriors

I note stand up comedy is not yor forte. You should try playing to an audience instead of playing with yourself. The Recruit wrote: ↑Sat 15 May 2021 2:11pmAhh your daughter was the other person that was there for it!Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Fri 14 May 2021 7:57pm Look no further than this thread for proof that the forum is largely inhabited by keyboard haters masquerading as St Kilda Football Club supporters.

Re: Jack Steven to be honoured tomorrow night.
I was there. I stood and clapped spontaneously as did Saint supporters all around me. I saw a former champ of our Club and a man touched by the warm sincerity of the applause. I remembered the great games he played and the enjoyment I got from his abilities and what he did on the field for the Club. Was close enough to see the joy our cheers gave him and hope that memory stays with him. Very privileged to be able to pay respect in person. I could never cast the first stone at anyone and not seeing a future under Richo can hardly be called anything but rational. Wish him all the best for the future and a nod to both Clubs for the opportunity. His little girl looked lovely and happy to be with dad.
