Marshall’s foot
Could barely walk on it after the match today.
Must really take some management and jabs, he’s clearly playing under duress.
You’d think he may need some management.

I'm in the "conservative treatment, get it right" camp regarding any foot injury to this young gun!

Good question, would anyone who attends training comment?

Re: Marshall’s foot
IMO err on the side of caution give him the game off & see how that works. If he feels he has made significant improvement then consider him the following week if he hasn't give him another week off & keep repeating the same process until he is ready.

Re: Marshall’s foot
IMO you can play injured but if that injury is going to impact your performance & long term availability I would err on the side of caution especially for a bloke as important as Marshall

If he thinks he can play you play him

Probably trains 50%. Lately Billing’s doesn’t train at all.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Sat 08 May 2021 9:25pmGood question, would anyone who attends training comment?

Re: Marshall’s foot
Would be incredibly handy to have him available for this game.

Re: Marshall’s foot
Dilemma. Might make the finals, unlikely but might. Improbable would win a final even if we made it unless got Eagles at Marvel. Two of top 5 most important players can't train (not even considering that Hannebery fellow). Rest and recovery them and just see what happens draft wise, work on structures/team work, developing players, testing players, testing roles for the future; or risk long term injury and sub par performances by the injured anyway and end up worse off than otherwise longer term. Do sponsors think strategic longer term? Are coaches allowed that luxury?

Re: Marshall’s foot
Rest him winning this long shot
Plan for next year as we are at best scraping into 8 more likely 9-12

Re: Marshall’s foot
If he's training 50% of the time during the week then he should be ok to play.
I think the issue is the 6 daybreak which doesn't give him sufficient time to recover. Plenty of 7 and 8 day breaks after this week then the bye at round 13.

Yes, short-termism really is a problem, but conceding at 4 4 is a losing mentality.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Mon 10 May 2021 7:45am Dilemma. Might make the finals, unlikely but might. No idea, just my assumption.
Tony seems to confirm with his comments on Marshall & Billings training.

Re: Marshall’s foot
It's concerning, but I guess they have this same plantar fascia issue, which seems to be one that just gets better over time.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Mon 10 May 2021 10:42amNo idea, just my assumption.

Probably the most important thing for Marshall is that it isn't the stress fracture issue. Fingers crossed.

Re: Marshall’s foot
All of this is just uninformed speculation, I'd prefer to wait and hear what the club says as he is not listed as injured.
Just last Thursday playing golf I suffered an injury to my plantar fascia ligament on the 1st hole and hobbled around with a sore heel for the next 3 hours, treated it with ice twice daily since and it feels manageable.
From a previous episode on my other foot years ago I found that carving a hole in the orthotic sole at the place of the pain in the heel takes all the pressure off the bursa - reckon that should enable him to keep playing.
It's quite likely that there are quite a few players carrying this injury that continue to play each week.
